The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association, Inc. (SHDA) has been a driving force in providing quality housing solutions for Filipino families for over 50 years. Established in 1970, the association has been dedicated to developing communities that are both livable and affordable, prioritizing the well-being of their residents.

This year, on May 18, 2023, SHDA commemorates its 53rd anniversary with a grand celebration held at Marquis Events Place in BGC, Taguig City. The event acknowledges the association’s achievements and sets its sights on a more sustainable future. During the event, Ms. Arlene C. Keh, the Chairman of SHDA, emphasized the association’s steadfast dedication to providing quality homes for Filipinos. She expressed pride in the milestones they have accomplished and the partnerships they have forged, all in pursuit of their vision. Amidst the challenges faced by the industry, SHDA remains resolute in its aspiration to be the leading advocate for sustainable, affordable, and inclusive housing in the Philippines.

The partnership between SHDA and Pag-IBIG Fund was highlighted during the celebration, with Ms. Marilene C. Acosta, the CEO of Pag-IBIG Fund, commending the shared values and advocacies of the two organizations. This partnership has been instrumental in developing housing policies that benefit the country.

Beyond its collaboration with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD), SHDA has played an active role in establishing key institutions that contribute to the growth of the housing sector. The association’s unwavering support has solidified their partnership with DSHUD, particularly in supporting the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.

In line with their commitment to progress, SHDA launched several new programs and initiatives. The SHDA Cares program aims to expand the organization’s reach through various corporate social responsibility initiatives, reaching communities in need. The CSR Committee, co-chaired by Ms. Clarissa G. SHDA Over the Years

Since its inception, the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) has made substantial strides in the housing industry, particularly in promoting sustainable building practices and developing eco-friendly communities. Through its diverse range of initiatives, the association has significantly expanded housing options for Filipinos, particularly those from low-income backgrounds.

One of SHDA’s noteworthy accomplishments is its pivotal role in the passage of the Urban Development and Housing Act (UDHA) of 1992. This legislation aimed to ensure secure tenure for residents of informal settlements and facilitate the creation of affordable housing options for low-income families.

Moreover, SHDA actively fosters a culture of corporate social responsibility among its members, urging them to contribute to their communities. Through various programs and partnerships, the association has collaborated with different organizations to provide assistance and support to Filipinos during times of crisis, such as natural disasters.

Aligned with its commitment to sustainable development, SHDA has been at the forefront of promoting renewable energy usage and eco-friendly materials in housing construction. By partnering with renewable energy companies, the association encourages developers to incorporate solar power systems into their projects, thereby reducing carbon emissions and advancing energy efficiency.

As the Philippines grapples with the challenges of rapid urbanization and a growing population, SHDA remains steadfast in providing sustainable housing solutions. The association actively advocates for industry reforms, including the streamlining of permitting processes and the provision of incentives for developers to invest in affordable housing.

Through its comprehensive programs and initiatives, SHDA empowers communities to construct better homes and improve their quality of life. The association continues to offer training and education programs for its members, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality housing solutions.
