Braving the heavy rain, over 4,000 runners—including loyal Puregold shoppers and running enthusiasts—gathered to showcase teamwork, endurance, and the signature panalo (winning) spirit.

A Unique Physical Challenge
Unlike traditional marathons, the signature Hakot Relay requires teams to sprint to the finish line while physically hauling grocery items won from designated hakot (gathering) sections. Participants were seen excitedly navigating the wet course carrying everyday kitchen essentials such as bags of rice, packs of instant noodles, and jugs of soy sauce. Some runners even took on the grueling task of single-handedly carrying large home appliances, like electric fans, over their shoulders.

“We started Hakot Relay with a simple idea of bringing our shoppers together through an experience that is uniquely Puregold,” said Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Puregold Senior Manager. “Seeing everyone show up, cheer each other on, and keep going through the rain was incredible. That’s the panalo energy that makes Hakot Relay so special, and we can’t wait to bring it to more communities.”
Pushing Limits: The 8K Individual Challenge

In addition to the family-focused relay, this year’s event introduced the 8K Individual Challenge for those seeking a raw athletic test. Over 500 runners took on the full 8-kilometer course, racing against their own personal limits. Every individual who crossed the finish line was rewarded for their grit with a finisher’s medal and a surprise grocery cart to take home.

Whether participating for family fun or personal achievement, the event proved to be a rewarding experience for all involved. For future updates and upcoming legs, communities can follow the official Puregold social media accounts on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok.
