Disney+ Philippines gave audiences a sneak peek at its upcoming Hulu Original series, “Phony,” by dropping the show’s first trailer and official promotional art. Local streaming subscribers can catch the highly anticipated premiere when it debuts on Tuesday, October 20.
The series centers on a gripping coming-of-age mystery following a teenager who awakens in a hospital bed after a major car crash. To his horror, he realizes the woman claiming to be his mother—his sole parent and closest confidant—seems to have been replaced by an identical stranger.
Leading the production is Connie Britton as Ellen alongside Sam Nivola, who portrays the central teenager, Sonny. The dynamic ensemble cast also features Meera Syal as Sharla, Grace Brennan as Mallory, Mahaela Park as Chloe, Maliq Johnson as Vogel, and Colter Lee as Weldon.
Nick Paley pulled double duty by writing and directing the series premiere while serving as executive producer alongside co-showrunner Anthony King (The Afterparty). The behind-the-scenes creative powerhouse also includes series star Connie Britton, Charlie Alderman of Charlie’s Production Company, and the Goddard Textiles team of Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg, with Andrea Massaro acting as co-executive producer for the 20th Television production.
