Inspired by Jake Vargas’ real-life romance with actress Inah de Belen, Dear Dina’s debut single “Nabighani” captures that magical moment when someone instantly draws you in—yet nerves and hesitation keep your feelings locked inside.

“The word ‘Nabighani’ has this beautiful Filipino charm,” the band shares. “It describes that unexplainable feeling of being drawn to someone. It’s tender, emotional, and authentic—just like the story behind the song.”
Sonically, the track mirrors the soft, dreamy energy of being torpe—shy, hopeful, and completely smitten. Its lyrics are simple yet heartfelt, like a quiet conversation with a crush filled with butterflies and anticipation.
The song began as casual brainstorming sessions over coffee, with the band asking Jake about his first impressions of Inah. “That’s when the idea for the song sparked—the excitement, the nervousness, and the urge to speak but holding back,” the band recalls.
The writing process was deeply collaborative. New member Louise Bayas suggested the now-iconic chorus melody “sasabihin ko sa’yo” and added a groovy bass line that perfectly complemented the drums, giving the track warmth and rhythm. From recording drums at Victor Guison’s Unknown13 Pub to using Louise’s personal recording setup, the band took a hands-on, DIY approach.
Producer Xergio Ramos helped shape the final arrangement, ensuring the single felt polished yet genuine. “Since it’s our first release, we wanted it to be perfect but not overcomplicated,” the band shares.
For Dear Dina, “Nabighani” is more than a debut—it’s a declaration of identity. “This song reflects where we come from as a band—stories of love, longing, and youth. It’s sincere and emotional, yet lighthearted and fun,” they say.
Each member brings unique influences—from pop to rock to indie—coming together to create a sound that’s distinctly Dear Dina: honest, cohesive, and deeply Filipino.
