“Multo” Earns MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN Nomination for Cup of Joe_1

Filipino music continues to make waves on the global stage as Cup of Joe earns a prestigious nomination for Best Song Asia at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 with their standout track “Multo.”

Emerging from a competitive selection that included fellow OPM acts Dionela and Earl Agustin, the nomination marks a defining moment for the Philippines’ growing influence in the international music scene. With songs like “Marilag” and “Tibok” also gaining traction, the recognition goes beyond competition—it signals a shift. Filipino music is no longer just participating in global conversations; it’s helping shape them.

Now in its second year, MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN has quickly established itself as a premier international platform celebrating musical excellence across Asia. Launched in 2025 and spearheaded by the Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA), the awards aim to foster cross-border collaboration and elevate Asian artistry to a global audience.

Backed by a voting body composed of respected industry professionals, the awards highlight not only artistic merit but also cultural impact—making Cup of Joe’s nomination all the more significant.

Taro Kumabe, Executive Director for Global Relations of MAJ/CEIPA, emphasized the awards’ broader vision: to create a stage where diverse musical voices across Asia can stand side by side and gain worldwide recognition.

This spirit of inclusivity and global exchange is echoed by past nominees like South Korea’s virtual group PLAVE, who described their nomination as a breakthrough moment that transcended language and redefined possibilities in music.

Further strengthening its regional ties, MAJ also introduces the International Special Award, recognizing outstanding talent across key Asian markets including the Philippines, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam—reinforcing its mission to build a more connected and collaborative music ecosystem.

As anticipation builds, winners will be revealed during the official ceremony on June 13, 2026. For Filipino artists and fans alike, Cup of Joe’s nomination is more than a milestone—it’s a powerful reminder that OPM is not just being heard, but celebrated across the world.
