Indie rock powerhouse Mitski has officially dropped her eighth studio album, Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, via Dead Oceans — and it’s already making waves globally.
The album marks a confident return to her guitar-driven roots while maintaining the cinematic emotional depth she’s known for. Written entirely by Mitski and produced with longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland, the record blends raw vulnerability with lush orchestral
arrangements recorded at Sunset Sound.

Alongside the release, she unveiled the music video for “If I Leave,” a hauntingly beautiful track about conflict, attachment, and self-awareness. Directed by Jared Hogan, the video unfolds inside a mysterious house filled with tension and memory, turning the setting itself into a silent character.
Critics have praised the album’s boldness and emotional intensity, further cementing Mitski’s reputation as one of her generation’s most compelling songwriters.

Manila Included in Global Tour Dates
As part of her global tour, Mitski will perform in Manila on July 14 at Mall of Asia Arena. The tour also includes residencies at The Shed and Sydney Opera House, with multiple dates already sold out. With a devoted Filipino fanbase and an album this emotionally charged, her Manila stop is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated concerts of the year.
Nothing’s About to Happen to Me is out now on all streaming platforms.
