MDPPA Records Sales of 932,220 Motorcycle Units as of July 2023

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA), comprising leading manufacturers Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, has achieved a significant sales milestone by selling an impressive 932,220 units collectively during the first half of 2023, spanning from January to July. This accomplishment represents a notable 4.6% increase compared to the same period last year, which saw total sales of 890,720 units.

In light of this remarkable achievement, MDPPA has conducted a comprehensive review of its sales targets for the remainder of the year. The members have unanimously agreed to target a modest yet consistent five percent growth rate in motorcycle sales from August to December. This goal aims to culminate in an impressive cumulative sale of 1.6 million units by the end of 2023, surpassing the already outstanding threshold of 1.5 million units achieved in the previous year.

However, MDPPA acknowledges that the projected growth may be significantly affected by various global and local economic factors. Factors such as rising prices and the lingering impacts of the pandemic, including supply chain disruptions and a mix of in-person and remote work arrangements, have contributed to a situation of slower growth.

MDPPA President Norminio “Boying” Mojica noted that the sales performance in the first semester of this year could potentially mirror that of the second semester.

“Drawing from historical trends, the months of September, October, and November have consistently shown increased sales volumes, while the months of August and December have maintained an average profile in terms of monthly sales,” he added.

This observation underscores MDPPA’s ability to recognize seasonal fluctuations and analyze motorcycle sales patterns in the country.
