The City of Firsts joins the global health movement with “Beyond the Pink Ribbon” campaign, featuring free screenings, wellness activities, and educational programs

Every breast cancer diagnosis impacts an entire network of people, from patients facing fear and survivors showing incredible strength, to families offering constant support and medical teams guiding the path to recovery.
This October, Araneta City is honoring these journeys through its “Beyond the Pink Ribbon: Recognizing the People Behind Every Story” campaign. Launched for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the initiative is a collaboration with the Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) and the Love Hope Dream Foundation (LHDF).
Through a diverse lineup of health, fitness, educational, and creative events, the City of Firsts aims to emphasize early detection, spark meaningful dialogues about breast health, and honor the resilient individuals and supportive communities driving the fight against cancer.
Proactive Health and Early Detection
The campaign kicked off with Screening for Wellness, offering free breast screenings on October 15 and prostate screenings on October 19 in partnership with the PCS. The program provides the Araneta City community with vital access to early detection services, highlighting the critical role regular check-ups play in fighting cancer. As an added incentive, participants who completed their check-ups received points via the Araneta Rewards program.
Community Fitness and Solidarity
On October 18, community spirit took center stage during the Moving for Fitness aRUneta Run Club special edition. Hosted at the Green Gate of the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Sunday morning event brought people together for running and dance warm-ups to support breast cancer patients and survivors. Attendees donned pink attire as a collective symbol of solidarity and encouragement.
Education and Creative Healing
Public education became the focus on October 19 with Learning Through Awareness at Gateway Mall 1, organized alongside the PCS and LHDF. The session addressed cancer prevention, the importance of early detection, common misconceptions, and available support networks, empowering attendees with the knowledge to make informed health choices.
Complementing these talks was Healing Through Art, an art workshop and two-day exhibit running from October 19 to 20. Featuring patients and survivors invited by the LHDF, this initiative spotlighted creativity and self-expression as therapeutic tools for emotional recovery, giving participants a space to share their unique journeys and connect with peers.
A Comprehensive Approach to Awareness
Araneta City’s “Beyond the Pink Ribbon” campaign looks past the traditional boundaries of breast cancer awareness. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to promote proactive wellness, foster deeper empathy, and build supportive environments where stories of bravery, recovery, and hope can safely be told.
