The LEGO® Group has officially unveiled LEGO Friends: Heartlake The Musical, the franchise’s first-ever live-action adaptation, which premiered for free worldwide on October 16 via the LEGO Group’s official YouTube channel.
The 50-minute musical is produced by acclaimed director and executive producer Kenny Ortega, known for his work on the High School Musical franchise and The Cheetah Girls, alongside Jill Wilfert of LEGO Entertainment and Michael McKenna and Hanah Draper of Final Pixel. Filmmaker Paul Becker, whose credits include major hits such as The Last of Us and Descendants, joins the production as director and choreographer.
The story follows Daisy, a creative teenager who moves to a new town and copes with loneliness by building an elaborate LEGO Friends world in her bedroom. Her imaginative creation soon comes to life, whisking her away to the vibrant world of Heartlake City, where she embarks on a music-filled adventure with new friends.
Featuring four original songs written exclusively for the musical and spectacular performances, the special brings beloved LEGO Friends characters from brick to screen in an entirely new way.
