Daydreaming about a crush, stealing quick glances, and feeling your heart race—that’s the kind of kilig Cinema One is bringing to viewers this August with a month-long showcase of romantic-comedy favorites. Romance takes center stage every Sunday at 5 PM in Romance Central, where some of the most beloved Kapamilya loveteams return to light up the screen. Featuring Joshua Garcia, Julia Barretto, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, and Donny Pangilinan, this lineup promises to relive the magic of young love and heartfelt stories that continue to resonate with Filipino audiences.

The series kicks off with Vince & Kath & James on August 10, starring Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia, and Ronnie Alonte. This film shows how love can blossom in unexpected ways—even through text messages. Vince (Joshua), a diligent student, secretly harbors feelings for Kath (Julia). However, when his best friend James (Ronnie), a varsity heartthrob, asks for his help in courting her, Vince ends up writing the heartfelt messages that make Kath fall in love. The film captures the bittersweet complications of love triangles, friendship, and the courage to speak the truth.

On August 17, She’s Dating the Gangster takes viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Adapted from the bestselling novel, the story follows Kenneth (Daniel), who is reeling from the news of his father’s plane crash, and Kelay (Kathryn), whose mother has ties to Kenneth’s dad. Their search for answers leads them to Bicol, where they uncover the poignant love story of their parents. This film combines romance, heartbreak, and destiny, cementing the KathNiel tandem as one of the most iconic loveteams in Philippine cinema.

August 24 introduces a lighter yet equally heartwarming tale with Loving in Tandem, featuring Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber. The movie tells the story of Shine (Maymay), a bubbly, hopeless romantic eager to find “the one.” Her world collides with Luke (Edward), a rebellious Fil-Am who is reluctantly sent to the Philippines by his strict father. What starts as constant bickering and misunderstandings slowly turns into a journey of self-discovery and unexpected love, showing how two very different people can find common ground and perhaps even forever.

Closing the month on August 31 is James & Pat & Dave, where Ronnie Alonte reprises his role as James. This time, James is forced by his mother to work at a resort after his reckless behavior lands him in trouble. There, he meets Pat (Loisa Andalio), the tough but kindhearted manager who doesn’t make things easy for him. Just when James begins to adjust, his world is shaken once again by the arrival of Dave (Donny Pangilinan), Pat’s ex. The film blends humor, romance, and drama in a story about redemption, second chances, and choosing the right kind of love.

But the romance doesn’t stop there. After Romance Central, Cinema One presents Blockbuster Sundays at 7 PM, headlined by none other than Anne Curtis. This special feature revisits some of her most memorable films across genres. On August 10, she stars alongside Aga Muhlach in When Love Begins, a story about unexpected connections and the challenges of commitment. On August 17, she teams up with Sam Milby in Babe, I Love You, a charming romcom about two people from different worlds finding common ground. On August 24, she dazzles in the box-office hit No Other Woman, a gripping drama about love, betrayal, and choices. Finally, on August 31, Anne takes on a completely different role in the action-packed Buybust, proving her versatility as one of the industry’s biggest stars.

Meanwhile, young audiences and fans of coming-of-age stories can look forward to Kabataan Ngayon, airing Mondays to Thursdays at 7 PM and Fridays at 8 PM. This block showcases a variety of teen flicks filled with friendship, love, and life lessons. The lineup includes the spine-chilling Haunted Mansion on August 25, the romantic drama Talk Back and You’re Dead on August 26, the barkada film G! on August 27, the heart-tugging prequel Four Sisters Before the Wedding on August 28, and the thrilling Bloody Crayons on August 29. Each movie highlights the ups and downs of growing up, offering laughter, tears, and unforgettable moments.
