InLife’s New Global Fund Blends Technology with Dividends

Insular Life (InLife) has introduced the Global Equity Premium Income Fund (GEPI), a new variable unit-linked (VUL) fund designed to offer regular monthly income payouts. The fund achieves this through an actively managed portfolio that balances direct exposure to the Nasdaq-100 with a strategic covered call options overlay.

What truly distinguishes the target fund is its specific design to capture steady monthly yields by selling call options to generate premium income. Because call options inherently increase in value during periods of heightened market volatility, the fund is uniquely positioned to potentially see improved income distributions when market fluctuations rise.

Structurally, GEPI operates as a feeder fund that invests directly into J.P. Morgan’s Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPQ). This setup gives local investors robust exposure to market giants mirroring the Nasdaq-100 Index—which tracks 100 of the largest non-financial corporations traded on the Nasdaq, including tech leaders like Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta.

“Filipino investors are increasingly seeking global growth opportunities, particularly in innovation and technology, but often hesitate due to market volatility. With GEPI, we are bridging this gap by combining exposure to world-leading tech innovators with an active covered call strategy. This allows our policyholders to avoid the common trap of exiting their investments during heightened market volatility, helping them navigate different market environments with greater confidence,” said InLife Chief Product and Innovation Officer Jose Eduardo O. Ang.

The GEPI fund is specifically tailored for investors looking for a less volatile way to invest in the Nasdaq-100 while securing steady monthly income payouts. Additionally, it serves as an attractive option to complement traditional income portfolios by capturing higher overall yields.

The new fund will be open to fresh applications and can also be integrated into eligible existing InLife VUL policies through fund switching or top-ups. This includes flagship products like Wealth Assure Plus and Solid Fund Builder, subject to the company’s standard eligibility criteria.

By introducing GEPI, InLife broadens its diverse portfolio of investment-linked fund choices. This expansion gives policyholders a powerful new vehicle to participate in lucrative global markets while actively pursuing their long-term financial milestones.
