HONOR and Alibaba have officially entered into a landmark strategic cooperation agreement, witnessed by James Li, CEO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd., and Eddie Wu, CEO of Alibaba Group. This milestone alliance underscores both companies’ commitment to shaping the future of AI, uniting their strengths to accelerate intelligent innovation.
At the core of the partnership is a shared vision to cultivate a robust AI ecosystem, driving breakthroughs across AI models, intelligent services, and device integration. By combining HONOR’s expertise in smart devices and MagicOS with Alibaba’s leadership in cloud, AI models, and digital services, the collaboration aims to redefine how people live, work, and connect in the AI era.
Transforming the AI Agent Ecosystem
HONOR and Alibaba will jointly advance AI agents, large AI models, and intelligent services, creating next-level application experiences in travel, tourism, lifestyle, mobile office, e-commerce, and entertainment. This collaboration will foster deep technical exchanges, resource sharing, and innovation across mobile devices, delivering smarter and more seamless user journeys.
Co-developing AI Models and Capabilities
A key focus will be the joint development of vertical application models using Alibaba’s Qwen open-source large language model, integrated with HONOR’s hardware and OS. Together, they will create a “cloud-device integrated” intelligent experience that offers more personalized, secure, and fluid AI services for HONOR MagicOS users.
Advancing MaaS (Model-as-a-Service)
The partnership will further expand into Model-as-a-Service, optimizing performance across text, multimodal, image, video, and voice applications. Through collaborative training and fine-tuning, HONOR and Alibaba aim to achieve state-of-the-art (SOTA) on-device AI models capable of delivering powerful and efficient experiences.
Expanding Everyday AI Services
Looking ahead, Alibaba’s extensive commercial ecosystem—through platforms such as Ele.me (food delivery), Damai (ticketing), and Taopiaopiao (movie ticketing)—will be integrated into HONOR’s AI agent ecosystem via the Multi-Cloud Platform (MCP) protocol. This will empower users with even more intelligent lifestyle solutions, from food and entertainment to e-commerce and productivity.
This groundbreaking partnership will debut on the upcoming HONOR Magic8 Series, HONOR’s first native AI-powered flagship smartphone, bringing users in China a new era of AI-driven features and services co-created with Alibaba.
