Warner Bros. Discovery and Viu, PCCW’s pan-regional streaming service, today announced a ground-breaking joint subscription that bundles HBO Max and Viu into a single purchase. Rolling out in Q4 across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, the new bundle combines premium Hollywood tentpoles with the region’s most popular Asian dramas and originals — giving viewers one seamless gateway to global and local entertainment.

The partnership unites two highly complementary libraries: HBO Max’s blockbuster films, prestige HBO originals and major franchises alongside Viu’s roster of acclaimed Asian content — from hit K-dramas to Chinese series and Southeast Asian local productions. Together the services promise an unmatched breadth of entertainment for viewers who want both Hollywood spectacle and the shows driving conversation across Asia.

Highlights you can expect:

  • Hollywood & HBO Originals — blockbuster titles and franchises, plus HBO series that spark global fandom (examples include major theatrical releases and hit series).
  • Korean, Chinese & Regional Hits — Viu Originals and licensed favorites including reality shows and dramas that have built huge followings across Asia.
  • Local Productions — curated Southeast Asian content tailored for regional audiences.
  • Complementary premieres — new season drops and exclusive originals across both services, giving subscribers more high-value premieres throughout the year.

“Following the proven consumer and business benefits of HBO Max bundles in other parts of the world, this new offering will deliver strong entertainment value across Southeast Asia and help drive subscriber growth and retention,” said James Gibbons, President, Asia Pacific, Warner Bros. Discovery. “Fans will now enjoy a single subscription that spans premium Hollywood movies and series as well as standout Asian content — more choice, greater convenience.”

Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and Managing Director of PCCW Media Group, added: “Partnering with Warner Bros. Discovery significantly expands Viu’s entertainment proposition. By combining HBO Max’s Hollywood slate with Viu’s Asian favorites, we’re delivering easier access to diverse programming and stronger value for viewers across the region.”

Practical details:

  • The bundle will be available for direct purchase via both HBO Max and Viu websites in the participating markets.
  • Subscribers will be able to access content from each service separately within the bundle; however, content availability, features and device compatibility will vary by service and market.
  • Further pricing, promotional and availability specifics will be announced in the months leading up to the Q4 launch.

This collaboration marks the first multi-market bundle of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region and signals a new phase of strategic alliances in streaming — one that focuses on combining global scale with local relevance to meet rapidly evolving viewer preferences.
