A decade after “AGEHA” cemented their legacy, GENERATIONS engineered their new track, “VIBE,” to stand proudly alongside their career-defining anthem. Rather than attempting a lazy reproduction or replacing the classic, the group designed “VIBE” to prove they possess the exact same fire and power that launched them to fame ten years ago.
Co-written by member Alan Shirahama alongside rising talent TET$V and veteran hit producer Kanata Okajima, “VIBE” is a relentless, fast-paced EDM dance track centered on an undeniable earworm hook. The song arrived digitally on September 28, with a physical single following on October 28 to mark the group’s first CD release in four years.
Launching right as GENERATIONS approaches its 15th anniversary this November, the track serves as the opening salvo for a milestone year dedicated to revisiting their roots. By directly mirroring the energy of their defining hit “AGEHA,” “VIBE” actively embraces this creative look back.
Blending live-action performance with backgrounds crafted entirely by generative AI, the music video constructs a digital landscape that was pure science fiction when “AGEHA” dropped a decade ago. Visually, the video leads with the group’s signature heavy choreography before transitioning into specialized routines. Front and center are the group’s two vocalists, who dive completely into the intense choreography—highlighted by an unforgettable, standout sliding sequence from Ryuto Kazuhara.
Alan Shirahama, who co-wrote and arranged the track, laid out exactly what went into it:
“‘VIBE’ really makes the most of what GENERATIONS is capable of. In the 2010s, LDH was always tied to this kind of sound. It’s something only GENERATIONS, and only LDH, can really pull off, and over time I think it’s stopped being ‘the sound of that era’ and become something closer to a sound that’s genuinely ours, one with lasting value. But we didn’t just want to repeat it, we packed in things that still feel fresh inside that same DNA.”
“Our 15th anniversary year starts this November, and opening the song with the line ‘this is where the good part starts’ is both a declaration and a challenge to ourselves. It’s not an aggressive track either, there’s a sense of ease that comes from having grown up, but we also built in moments where the audience can shout along with us live. We wanted this to be a killer track for shows and festivals. This is a song that could only exist because every member trusts the skill and potential we’ve all built up across our careers.”
