The recognitions highlight the tangible results of GCash’s campaigns—from mobilizing 12,000 runners for climate action to reaching more than 1.5 million people through engaging scam awareness content on social media.

Turning Everyday Transactions into Real Trees

Through “Transforming Everyday Digital Behaviors into Environmental Impact,” GCash’s GForest initiative turns routine digital activities into opportunities for environmental action.

With GForest, everyday actions such as sending money, paying bills, and making transactions allow users to collect energy points that can be used to plant virtual trees. These digital actions translate into real-world impact as GCash, its partners, and local communities plant actual trees on the ground.

The initiative helps restore critical ecosystems while also supporting sustainable local livelihoods, demonstrating how everyday digital behavior can contribute to broader environmental goals.

Cutting Through Scam Tactics Before They Cause Harm

GCash was also recognized with a Merit Award in the Communication Skills Division (Audio/Visual) for its campaign against SMS spoofing scams.

Amid rising threats from International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) catcher technology, GCash transformed a complex fraud tactic into a simple and memorable rule: “Basta may link, ‘wag mong i-click!”

Through animated, bite-sized videos, the campaign made scam awareness more instinctive and easier for audiences to remember. The content reached more than 1.5 million users organically and generated a 22.6% engagement rate, more than four times the industry benchmark.

A Digital Ecomovement Brought to Life by 12,000 Runners and 128,000 Trees

The campaign “Driving Collective Climate Action Through GForest and EcoRun” received the Excellence in Communication Management (CSR) distinction.

The initiative bridged digital engagement with real-world environmental impact by mobilizing 12,000 race participants to help fund mangrove restoration and plant 76,000 trees and mangroves nationwide.

With support from corporate sponsors that contributed an additional 52,000 trees, the project reached a total of 128,000 trees.

The initiative demonstrated how digital mobilization can scale into tangible environmental outcomes through collaboration with NGOs, universities, and merchant partners.

The Real Measure of Impact

Taken together, these campaigns demonstrate how communication can go beyond simply raising awareness to inspire measurable, positive change.

“For us, these recognitions are not just about winning awards—they are about proving that communication can drive real, positive change in people’s lives,” said GCash Vice President for Corporate Sustainability and Communication Michelle Fernandez. “Whether it’s protecting families from scams or mobilizing communities for climate action, we see every campaign as part of a larger responsibility to make digital innovation meaningful for Filipinos.”

These recognitions reflect the important role of communications in shaping everyday behavior—from encouraging safer choices and greater awareness of risks to promoting more responsible practices that benefit both people and the environment.
