Disney+ has officially announced that the hit Hulu Original drama series “Furious” will return for a second season. Spearheaded by creator and executive producer Elizabeth Meriwether alongside lead star and executive producer Emmy Rossum, the critically acclaimed first season of the suspense-thriller is currently available for streaming on Disney+ Philippines.
Furious has shown impressive staying power as its audience expands with each passing week. In fact, one-day viewership data reveals that Episode 7 pulled in 40% more viewers than the initial pilot. The psychological thriller has also won over critics, debuting as a Certified Fresh hit on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% rating before settling into a nearly flawless 98% score.
Furious stars Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black, who is locked in a dangerous pursuit of a calculating serial killer played by Lola Petticrew. As their lives intertwine, both women follow their own paths to justice, causing the distinction between right and wrong to unravel.
Behind the camera, Elizabeth Meriwether wears multiple hats as the creator, writer, and executive producer of the series. Lead star Emmy Rossum also takes on an executive producer role for Composition 8, collaborating with a veteran producing team that includes Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead, and Sam Hoffman. Additionally, Brian Kirk helped establish the show’s dark tone by directing and executive producing the premiere episodes, with studio backing provided by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.
Bringing the intense cat-and-mouse chase to life is a stellar ensemble starring Emmy Rossum, Lola Petticrew, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, and Scoot McNairy. The freshman season also boasts standout guest appearances from familiar faces like Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang, and Steve Way, who add extra depth to the unfolding mystery.
