ePLDT and HPE Deliver Scalable AI and GPUaaS to the Philippines

ePLDT, the ICT arm of the PLDT Group, has entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with global tech leader Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to advance its highly anticipated GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) solution, set to launch this May. The partnership reflects the PLDT Group’s broader commitment to accelerating AI adoption across the Philippines through scalable, high-performance computing (HPC) for sectors such as finance, healthcare, e-commerce, retail, and public services.

“We’re pleased to collaborate with HPE as we bring GPUaaS and next-gen AI solutions to the local market,” said Amil Azurin, ePLDT’s Chief Commercial Officer. “These ongoing discussions are rooted in our shared goal of delivering cutting-edge, AI-integrated technologies to the country. Soon, enterprises of all sizes can harness powerful computing capabilities to boost performance and efficiency—bringing them closer to the future of intelligent business.”

Walter So, HPE Philippines’ Managing Director, echoed this vision, noting that AI is rapidly reshaping industries by driving innovation and productivity. “We’re excited to work with ePLDT to deliver scalable AI solutions that help Philippine businesses unlock new revenue streams, accelerate time to value, and increase operational productivity,” he said.

Locally Hosted GPU Power, Made Accessible

First revealed in late 2024, ePLDT’s GPUaaS will enable more Philippine enterprises to access advanced GPU technology without the need for costly infrastructure investments. These cloud-based GPU resources will give businesses the flexibility to scale, adapt, and innovate—fueling breakthroughs in data analysis, AI training, machine learning, and other compute-intensive workloads.

Understanding GPU-as-a-Service

GPUs, or Graphics Processing Units, were originally designed to render images and video—but they’ve since become essential to AI and machine learning applications, thanks to their ability to process massive datasets and perform parallel computations with speed and precision. Through GPUaaS, organizations can tap into this power on demand, making AI and data-driven transformation more attainable than ever before.

VITRO Santa Rosa: The AI-Ready Home of GPUaaS

The MOU includes a proof-of-concept deployment of HPE’s Private Cloud AI solution running on NVIDIA GPUs, housed at VITRO Santa Rosa—the Philippines’ first hyperscale and AI-ready data center. This next-gen facility plays a central role in ePLDT’s strategy to enable the country’s digital future, equipping local enterprises with the infrastructure they need to compete in a fast-evolving global market.

As ePLDT continues to lead digital transformation efforts in the country, its partnerships and innovations—like the upcoming GPUaaS offering—are set to play a crucial role in redefining enterprise IT and cementing PLDT’s leadership in the digital space.
