Hospitality is more than warm smiles and flawless guest experiences—it’s a career that demands both physical stamina and emotional resilience. Long hours on your feet, high expectations, and the need to consistently care for others define the work. At Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR), this dedication is met with a culture designed to care for its people, ensuring that excellence in service is sustainable.

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ Managing Director, Cleofe Albiso, and Group General Manager, Arturo Boncato, accepted the Tourism Industry Excellence Award from Tourism Secretary Cristina Garcia Frasco joined by Undersecretaries Verna Buensuceso and Rica Bueno at the first Philippine Tourism Awards.

“Hospitality is demanding work, and excellence cannot be sustained without a culture that genuinely cares for its people. Being recognized as a Great Place To Work affirms what we have always believed—that when employees feel respected, included, and inspired by purpose, their passion naturally translates into meaningful guest experiences,” said Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of MHR.

90% of employees said that Megaworld Hotels & Resorts is a Great Place To Work.

Passion as the Driving Force

At MHR, passion is the heartbeat of its operations. It fuels a culture where people are valued as much as performance, creating a workplace recognized as a Great Place To Work. When employees feel supported and inspired, their dedication to guests comes naturally.

The Circle of Happiness & Sampaguita Brand of Service

MHR’s distinctive Circle of Happiness (COH) framework guides its culture, focusing on five pillars: Love for Self, Love for Work, Love for Family, Love for Country, and Love for God. This holistic approach ensures employees find purpose, joy, and fulfillment in their work.

Complementing this philosophy is MHR’s Sampaguita brand of service, a hallmark of Filipino hospitality. Rooted in tradition and national pride, the brand embodies the flower’s five petals—love, honor, dignity, healing, and the Philippine flag—shaping how associates interact with guests with sincerity, kindness, and purpose.

Championing Inclusivity

Inclusivity is at the core of MHR’s culture. Recent surveys show that 95% of employees feel treated fairly regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Women now hold 51% of leadership positions, up from 20%, and 74 women have been promoted across MHR’s 14 properties since 2019.

MHR is also the first hotel chain in the Philippines to achieve 100% accreditation as a Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Establishment from the Department of Tourism, supporting both guests and employees in practicing their faith with dignity.

By fostering inclusivity, MHR encourages diverse perspectives, stronger collaboration, and innovative solutions, creating a workplace where everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders

Through the Next Gen Leadership Council (NGLC), MHR develops young associates for future leadership roles. From 70 applicants, 25 associates aged 23–34 were selected for an intensive eight-month program combining lectures, cross-property exposure, and mentorship. Participants gain hands-on insights into decision-making, strategy, and innovation—preparing a pipeline of skilled, values-driven leaders ready to take on key roles.

A Culture Built on Care and Passion

From the Circle of Happiness and Sampaguita brand of service to inclusivity and leadership programs, MHR proves that hospitality can be both demanding and deeply rewarding. Passion drives the people, the service, and the culture, creating a workplace where employees feel inspired to stay, grow, and lead—ultimately translating into unforgettable guest experiences and a strong, purpose-driven organization.
