Prime Video has officially dropped the trailer and key art for its highly anticipated spy-thriller series Butterfly—starring and executive produced by Daniel Dae Kim (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lost, Hawaii Five-O). Based on the acclaimed graphic novel series from BOOM! Studios, Butterfly is set to premiere all six episodes on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Joining Kim in the riveting series are Reina Hardesty (The Secret Art of Human Flight), Piper Perabo (Yellowstone, Billions), and Louis Landau (Rivals), forming a powerhouse cast that brings this gritty espionage story to life.
A Spy Story with a Personal Twist
Butterfly dives deep into the shadowy world of global espionage, layered with personal stakes and family secrets. At its center is David Jung (Kim), a mysterious and unpredictable former U.S. intelligence agent now living in South Korea. But his quiet life shatters when a haunting decision from his past resurfaces—thrusting him back into danger.
He’s now being hunted by Rebecca (Hardesty), a sociopathic young assassin working for a secretive and menacing spy agency known as Caddis. What follows is a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, set against a backdrop of betrayal, identity, and redemption.
A Stellar International Ensemble
The recurring cast features top-tier talent including Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Charles Parnell, Sean Dulake, and Nayoon Kim. Veteran actors Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa also appear in key guest roles.
