Race Weekend 2 to happen on July 9 to 11 at the Clark International Speedway

After a brief pause in March, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is officially bringing back the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup, with the 2026 season shifting into high gear while championing innovation, sustainability, and the future of motorsports.

Race Weekend 2 is set to take place from July 9 to 11 at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga. It marks the second of four race weekends scheduled for this year’s championship and promises another adrenaline-filled showcase of speed, engineering excellence, and cutting-edge automotive technology.

Racing Forward with Sustainability

Since its launch in 2014, the TGR Philippine Cup has brought world-class motorsport action closer to Filipino fans while serving as Toyota’s proving ground for vehicle development.

The season opener in March drew more than 6,000 spectators at Riverpark, Cavite and introduced the exciting Tamaraw Racing Class, featuring the locally built Toyota Tamaraw One-Make Race (OMR) vehicle.

Now, Race Weekend 2 takes the series a step further by putting low-carbon biofuels at the center of competition.

Toyota will power both the Vios OMR and Tamaraw OMR race cars using cleaner alternative fuels, transforming the racetrack into a real-world testing laboratory for sustainable mobility.

The Racetrack as a Rolling Laboratory

Widely recognized for using motorsports as a platform for innovation, Toyota will utilize:

  • B5 (5% Coco-Biodiesel Blend) for diesel-powered race vehicles
  • E20 (20% Bio-Ethanol Blend) for gasoline-powered race vehicles

The demanding conditions of competitive racing provide engineers with valuable data on fuel performance, engine efficiency, durability, and reliability under extreme stress.

By testing alternative fuels in one of the harshest operating environments possible, Toyota hopes to accelerate the wider adoption of low-carbon fuels across the Philippine automotive industry.

The initiative also highlights Toyota’s ongoing commitment to fuel flexibility, with approximately 75% of Toyota and Lexus gasoline-powered models already compatible with E20 fuel, while all Toyota diesel vehicles support B5 biodiesel.

Driving Innovation Beyond the Finish Line

Motorsports has always been a testbed for progress, and this season, TGR Philippines will take a step forward by actively exploring alternative fuels in competitive racing conditions,” said Elijah Marcial, First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations of Toyota Motor Philippines.

Testing biofuels in motorsports allows us to evaluate performance, efficiency, and reliability in high-demand environments, making this a pivotal step toward the broader adoption of low-carbon biofuels in the Philippines.

Toyota emphasizes that lessons learned on the racetrack often translate into real-world improvements that benefit everyday motorists.

Supporting Toyota’s Carbon Neutrality Vision

Beyond competition, the initiative aligns with Toyota’s broader environmental strategy and its global commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.

As a company committed to reducing carbon emissions, we recognize that every activity must contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable future,” said Elvin Luciano, Vice President for Government and Industry Affairs at Toyota Motor Philippines.

Alternative fuels help reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources such as petroleum. Utilizing biofuels in motorsports supports our multi-pathway approach toward carbon neutrality through diversified energy solutions.

The use of biofuels reflects Toyota’s belief that achieving sustainable mobility requires multiple technologies working together—including electrification, hydrogen, hybrid systems, and renewable fuels.

Experience the Excitement Live

Fans can witness the action firsthand as Race Weekend 2 opens its gates to the public on July 11, with free admission for spectators.

Visitors can expect thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles featuring the Vios and Tamaraw one-make race cars while experiencing Toyota’s vision of motorsports as both an exciting sporting event and a platform for automotive innovation.

Powered by Industry Partners

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup continues to receive strong support from its valued partners, including GT Radial as Official Tire Partner, Petron Rev-X and Petron Blaze Racing as Official Engine Oils Partners, and the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy as Official Partner.

The event is also backed by numerous automotive brands and industry leaders committed to advancing Philippine motorsports.

As the 2026 season resumes, the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup continues to prove that racing is more than just speed and competition—it is also a powerful platform for innovation, sustainability, and shaping the future of mobility both on and off the track.
