Kim and Shakirova are no strangers to the stage—and certainly no strangers to each other. Shakirova, a rising star and recent recipient of the prestigious 2025 Benois de la Danse (the “Ballet Oscar”), is known for her dramatic depth and commanding presence. Kim, who started ballet at 10, made history as the first foreign male principal dancer at Mariinsky, celebrated worldwide for his athleticism and precise technique. Together, they wowed at Russia-Kultura TV’s Grand Ballet in 2016 and now, they’re set to bring their magic to Manila.
La Bayadère tells the tragic love story set in ancient India—where love, jealousy, and betrayal collide in a dazzling ballet that spans the mortal realm and the afterlife. Kim shines as the noble warrior Solor, while Shakirova has played both Nikiya and the regal Gamzatti, showcasing her incredible versatility.
