The Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI), a long-standing partner of the Military and Uniformed Personnel (MUP) sector since 1965, marked a major milestone as it culminated its 60th anniversary celebration with a meaningful advocacy event titled “AKBAY DAGAT: Run for the Reefs.”
Held on May 24, 2026 at the Philippine Army Headquarters, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, the fun run gathered participants from various sectors in support of marine conservation and reef protection.

More than just a fitness event, Akbay Dagat served as a call to action for environmental awareness, with proceeds intended to support reef conservation efforts, capability-building programs, and marine protection initiatives in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard and allied agencies.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) also joined the event, reinforcing its commitment to environmental protection and inter-agency collaboration. SN2 Evelou A. Abutas (019296 PCG) emerged as champion in the 16-kilometer category, highlighting excellence and dedication in the competition.

Through its successful staging, AKBAY DAGAT: Run for the Reefs strengthened its mission of uniting communities and institutions in protecting and preserving the country’s marine ecosystems.
