For inDrive partner drivers, navigating Metro Manila’s roads during the rainy season is part of the job. But for many, dealing with flooded communities is also a deeply familiar and personal experience.

inDrive Philippines unites with partner drivers to deliver relief packs to families affected by floods

That shared reality brought inDrive employees and partner drivers together to provide relief to more than 250 families affected by flooding in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City. Working alongside barangay officials and the nonprofit organization Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), volunteers distributed relief packs to families in the community.

Each family received an emergency aid bag containing 2kg of rice, cup noodles, canned goods, coffee, biscuits, and bread, helping residents replenish essential supplies and cope with the immediate effects of the flooding.

The relief activity took place amid continued heavy rain, as volunteers came together to support residents of Barangay Masambong, a community that frequently experiences flooding during the monsoon season. For some of the participating drivers, the situation was particularly familiar, as many live and work in communities that are similarly vulnerable to flooding.

“Our partner drivers know firsthand what it means to keep moving even when conditions are unfavorable,” said Vanessa Taqueban, Driver Operations Lead for the Philippines at inDrive. “Many of them also come from communities that experience flooding, so they understand what these families are going through. We wanted to come together not just to deliver relief but to show that we can help one another when communities are facing difficult times.”

For inDrive Philippines Country Manager Sofia Guinto, the initiative demonstrates how the company’s driver community can extend its role beyond mobility and contribute to the communities where its people live and work.

“At inDrive, we believe that being part of a community means being there for one another, especially during difficult times,” said Guinto. “Through inDrive Cares, we want to create opportunities for our employees and partner drivers to come together and support communities that need help.”

Continuing the inDrive Cares Commitment

The flood relief activity is part of inDrive Cares, a community initiative established when inDrive began its local operations two years ago.

The program has previously supported communities affected by Typhoons Carina, Crising, and Dante through feeding programs and the distribution of relief packs.

inDrive has also worked with government agencies to conduct road clean-up activities along Caingin Estero in Barangay Caingin, addressing garbage buildup that can clog drainage systems and contribute to flooding.

Through these initiatives, inDrive continues to bring together employees, partner drivers, local communities, government partners, and nonprofit organizations to provide support to communities affected by disasters and other challenges.

The company’s efforts reflect a broader commitment to using its mobility community not only to help people get where they need to go, but also to stand with communities when they need support the most.
