Fortinet Appoints Luca Simonelli as SVP, Asia Pacific

Helping Organizations Secure Their Digital Future

Fortinet, the global cybersecurity leader driving the convergence of networking and security, has announced the appointment of Luca Simonelli as its new Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific (APAC), reinforcing the company’s commitment to one of the world’s fastest-growing cybersecurity markets.

Based in Singapore, Simonelli will spearhead Fortinet’s sales organization across the Asia-Pacific region, overseeing operations in Japan, North Asia, Southeast Asia, India & SAARC, Australia, and New Zealand. His leadership will focus on advancing the company’s regional strategy, strengthening relationships with customers and channel partners, and accelerating Fortinet’s long-term growth throughout APAC.

Veteran Technology Executive Returns to Fortinet

Simonelli brings more than 30 years of international leadership experience spanning cybersecurity, networking, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), cloud security, and managed services.

Before rejoining Fortinet, he held a senior executive position at GCX Managed Services, where he helped drive strategic business growth. Throughout his career, he has successfully built and led high-performing teams across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, earning a strong reputation for delivering business transformation and operational excellence.

His return to Fortinet also marks a homecoming. Simonelli previously spent nearly eight years with the company, leading its EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) business and playing a key role in expanding Fortinet’s presence across the region.

Strengthening Fortinet’s Presence in Asia Pacific

The appointment comes at a pivotal time as organizations across Asia Pacific continue to accelerate digital transformation, adopt artificial intelligence, and modernize critical infrastructure—all of which are driving greater demand for advanced cybersecurity solutions.

Announcing the appointment, Joe Sarno, Executive Vice President of International Sales at Fortinet, highlighted the strategic importance of the region.

“Asia Pacific continues to be one of the most dynamic cybersecurity markets globally, as organizations accelerate digital transformation, adopt AI, and modernize critical infrastructure. Luca’s deep industry experience, customer focus, and proven ability to build high-performing teams further strengthens our leadership across Asia Pacific and positions us well to further support our customers, partners, and teams as we continue executing our long-term growth strategy.”

Helping Organizations Secure Their Digital Future

Simonelli expressed enthusiasm about returning to Fortinet and supporting organizations navigating increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges.

He emphasized that Fortinet’s integrated platform uniquely combines networking, security, and artificial intelligence to help businesses simplify operations while improving cyber resilience.

“Fortinet has built one of the industry’s most comprehensive and integrated cybersecurity platforms, bringing together networking, security, and AI to help organizations reduce complexity while strengthening cyber resilience. As customers continue to modernize their infrastructure and embrace AI, Fortinet is uniquely positioned to help them secure every part of their digital journey.”

He added that he looks forward to working closely with customers, partners, and Fortinet teams across Asia Pacific to build on the company’s strong momentum and enable organizations to confidently embrace the next generation of digital transformation.

Driving the Next Phase of Growth

With businesses across Asia-Pacific facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats while accelerating cloud adoption, AI integration, and hybrid work environments, Simonelli’s appointment underscores Fortinet’s continued investment in regional leadership and customer success.

Armed with decades of global experience and a deep understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, Simonelli is expected to play a key role in helping organizations across the region strengthen their security posture while navigating the evolving digital economy.

A graduate of the University of Milan, where he earned a master’s degree in Computer Science, Simonelli will lead Fortinet’s Asia Pacific operations from the company’s regional headquarters in Singapore, guiding the next chapter of growth for one of the world’s leading cybersecurity providers.
