From June 11 onwards, the city transforms into a vibrant hub of food, fashion, arts, and heritage, inviting Filipinos to rediscover what it truly means to be Pinoy. Through immersive experiences across its key destinations, Araneta City shines a spotlight on traditions that continue to shape the nation’s identity.

“The City of Firsts believes that Filipino pride is best celebrated together,” said Marjorie Go, VP for Marketing of Araneta City. “Through these activities, we hope to deepen our appreciation for our culture, history, and shared identity.”

A Feast of Filipino Flavors

Kicking off the festivities is #TatakPinoy: Tara Merienda! (June 11 to 14), a four-day food celebration at the Gateway Mall Activity Area. Guests can indulge in well-loved Filipino snacks—from halo-halo and empanada to fruit shakes and hearty rice meals—bringing together flavors that feel both nostalgic and comforting.

Beyond food, visitors can explore Baybayin, the Philippines’ ancient writing system, and try writing their names or messages—bridging cultural heritage with modern self-expression.

Culinary Showdown and Playful Traditions

On June 12, the spotlight turns to Pork Labanan: The Great Pinoy Pork Culinary Wars, where emerging chefs compete to create standout pork dishes in partnership with the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. Held at Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall 2, the event celebrates Filipino culinary creativity with a competitive edge.

Meanwhile, #TatakPinoy: Larong Pinoy (June 12 to 17) brings back the joy of traditional Filipino games at Ali Mall’s MacArthur Activity Area. From teks and tatsing tournaments to nostalgic play zones, the activity invites both kids and adults to experience the fun of classic Filipino pastimes. A special display of Manny Pacquiao memorabilia at the ARTHCOM Freedom Fair adds an extra layer of cultural pride.

Fashion, Music, and Filipino Creativity

Fashion takes center stage with #TatakPinoy: Tagpi-Tagpi on June 12 at Farmers Plaza, where Dream Entertainment presents a modern runway show inspired by the Philippine flag. Blending everyday wear with symbolic elements, the showcase highlights how fashion can express national identity in fresh, contemporary ways.

From June 13 to 14, #TatakPinoy: Pista sa Nayon transforms Ali Mall into a celebration of Filipino artistry. Highlights include Kalye Estilo, a streetwear showcase featuring bold interpretations of Pinoy fashion, and a cultural fusion of Kundiman music, ethnic-inspired runway pieces, and a dance theater performance by the Malikhaya Performing Arts Group.

Celebrating Movement and Creativity

On June 14, the #PinoyAko: aRUNeta Run Club gathers fitness enthusiasts for a fun run that celebrates both health and national pride. Participants are encouraged to wear the colors of the Philippine flag—red, blue, white, or yellow—as a symbol of unity.

Completing the experience is the My Pinoy Figure Digital Promo (June 12 to 17), where visitors can create and share their own Pinoy-inspired figures using interactive rotatable blocks located at Ali Mall and Gateway Mall 1. Participants can post their creations online for a chance to win exciting prizes.

A Celebration of Being Filipino

More than just a series of events, Araneta City’s Independence Day celebration is a tribute to the Filipino spirit—resilient, creative, and deeply rooted in community.

Through every bite, every performance, and every shared moment, the City of Firsts invites everyone to come together, celebrate heritage, and take pride in what it truly means to be Filipino.
