In celebration of World Liver Day, Essentiale Forte P brought liver care into the spotlight through a two-day immersive experience titled “Atay Aksyon Nation”, held on April 18 and 19 at One Ayala in Makati City. The initiative transformed a busy urban space into an interactive wellness hub—combining education, expert consultation, and hands-on activities to promote proactive liver health among Filipinos.

With liver disease remaining a significant yet often overlooked public health concern in the Philippines, the campaign aimed to bridge the awareness gap by helping Filipinos understand early warning signs and the importance of preventive care before complications arise.

Inside the “Atay Aksyon” experience, visitors explored interactive learning stations designed to make liver health education more engaging and accessible. Guests were guided through immersive booth activities, participated in commitment-setting exercises, and received on-site medical consultations that encouraged real, actionable steps toward healthier lifestyles.

A key highlight of the event was the availability of free consultations with liver health experts, allowing participants to receive personalized advice and better understand their liver condition. The experience was further enriched by talks from medical professionals, brand leaders, and liver health advocate Ogie Alcasid, who shared practical insights on everyday liver care.

Mr. Ogie Alcasid, as Tatay Atay, shared a message on the importance of liver health awareness.

“The liver performs more than 500 essential functions in the body. In the Philippines, an estimated 80 million people are affected by liver disease, and many are unaware because symptoms often do not appear early,” said Dr. Anna Guia Limpoco of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians. She stressed that many cases are only discovered when damage has already progressed, largely due to skipped check-ups when patients feel well.

Dr. Karen De Luna of the Hepatology Society of the Philippines further emphasized the importance of lifestyle discipline—balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and responsible medication use—as key pillars of liver protection. She also noted that hepatoprotective medicines may provide additional support, citing their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits backed by clinical studies.

From the brand side, Essentiale Forte P Brand Manager Gheck Barlis highlighted the need to make liver care more relatable and actionable for everyday Filipinos. “Many only think about liver health when it becomes serious. Our goal is to encourage early action—not just on World Liver Day, but every day,” she said.

The event also partnered with Mercury Drug, which hosted an on-site selling booth for Essentiale products and supported the stage programs featuring talks, videos, and interactive segments. In addition, the campaign extends beyond the event through a buy-and-donate initiative: for every 10 capsules purchased, Opella donates 1 capsule to the Mercury Drug Foundation, expanding access to liver care support.

To further strengthen nationwide awareness, Essentiale is also backing a year-long SGPT testing initiative across Mercury Drug branches, encouraging early detection and proactive monitoring.

“Atay Aksyon Nation” ultimately reflects a broader vision of a healthier Philippines—where liver health is no longer overlooked, but understood, prioritized, and acted upon by every Filipino.
