Manila, Philippines — Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has officially launched in the Philippines, signaling a major step toward bringing Filipino songwriters to the global stage.

The expansion reflects the country’s strong domestic music market and the growing international reach of Filipino artists. With its new Manila office, SMP aims to support local songwriters not only in building sustainable careers at home but also in connecting with global audiences.

Newly appointed General Manager Stephanie Ortiz emphasized that education is a top priority. Many creators, she noted, are still unfamiliar with the full scope of music publishing — from registering songs and protecting rights to maximizing revenue opportunities. By working closely with industry partners such as FILSCAP, SMP Philippines plans to expand awareness and ensure songwriters understand how to protect and monetize their work.

Roslyn Pineda, President of Sony Music Publishing Asia, highlighted that the goal is clear: Filipino songwriters should not just thrive locally but compete and collaborate internationally. With global administration and creative support, the company hopes to open more doors for cross-border partnerships and worldwide placements.

Artists present at the launch echoed this vision. Pablo of SB19 spoke about the importance of authenticity and protecting the message of a song, while Paolo Benjamin of Ben&Ben emphasized writing with purpose and emotional honesty. Both underscored that when a song’s message is clear and genuine, it can resonate far beyond borders.

As Filipino music continues to travel around the world, Sony Music Publishing Philippines positions itself as a key bridge — ensuring that local songwriting talent is heard, protected, and represented on the global stage.
