Building on over two decades of nurturing independent Filipino cinema, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Cinemalaya Foundation Inc. are excited to announce the opening of submissions for the Short Film Category of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival 2026. This prestigious competition continues to be the country’s most significant platform for independent filmmakers, promoting unique and daring storytelling that reflects the Filipino experience.

Submission Details:
- Deadline: All entries must be submitted on or before 6:00 PM on February 27, 2026.
- Eligibility: The Cinemalaya Film Festival is open to all Filipino filmmakers. Each filmmaker may submit a maximum of three entries; however, only one entry per proponent will be selected as a finalist.
- Production Date: Entries must have been produced between May 16, 2025, and February 27, 2026. Films that have participated in other local or international festivals are eligible to apply.
How to Submit:
- Online Submissions:
To submit your film online, complete the entry form and provide the following requirements via https://bit.ly/CM2026_ShortFilm_EntryForm:- A fully completed entry form
- A film synopsis (in English)
- A filmmaker’s brief resume with 2×2 photos
- The final film (MP4 format) with a watermark (for screening purposes only). Ensure the file is properly labeled with:
- Film title
- Production company, address, and contact details
- Production date
- Director’s name
- Running time (maximum of 20 minutes, including credits)
- Offline Submissions:
- Submit your film on a USB thumb drive, along with the entry form, synopsis, and filmmaker’s profile. Place these in a long brown envelope clearly labeled with the proponent’s name, film title, and contact details.
- Submissions can be sent to the Film, Broadcast, and New Media Division office at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Annex Building, Vicente Sotto St. corner Magdalena Jalandoni St., Pasay City.
Shortlisting and Screening:
A Selection Committee will review all submissions and shortlist the top 10 films. These finalists will be screened during the 2026 Cinemalaya Film Festival from August 6 to 18, where they will compete for the prestigious Balanghai trophies.
