Oro Inodoro Awards 2024 Winner

Everyone deserves a good release—but too often, the difference between comfort and distress comes down to where you go. Thankfully, more establishments are proving that clean, safe, and inclusive restrooms shouldn’t be a gamble—they should be a right.

First launched in 2016 as the Golden Kubeta Awards, Maynilad’s Oro Inodoro Awards has since become the country’s premier campaign recognizing the nation’s best-managed public restrooms. More than just highlighting aesthetics, the awards honor facilities that uphold cleanliness, inclusivity, and sustainability—because Filipinos deserve nothing less.

The program also champions the needs of individuals with pamamahay or shy bladder syndrome, which affects 2.8% to 16.4% of the population, underscoring how proper restroom facilities are essential not only for comfort but for public health and human dignity.

This 2025, the Oro Inodoro Awards is expanding its scope. From last year’s three categories—Offices & Schools, Commercial & Retail, and Parks & Terminals—the awards now cover a broader range of public spaces:

  • Public Offices & Spaces
  • Schools & Universities
  • Restaurants & Cafes
  • Hotels & Malls
  • Gas Stations & Transportation Hubs

This expansion ensures more facilities can be recognized and encourages establishments of every kind to step up their sanitation practices.

Entries will be judged on three key criteria: Aesthetics, Cleanliness, and Wastewater Management—taking into account visual appeal, regular upkeep, water efficiency, and eco-friendly practices. As Maynilad emphasizes, a good restroom is about more than just appearances—it’s about sustainability and dignity.

“We want to keep the mission and tradition of the Oro Inodoro Awards alive,” said Marie Antonette De Ocampo, VP and Head of Maynilad’s Corporate Affairs and Communication Division. “Public restrooms should not only uphold human dignity but also reflect best practices in sanitation and wastewater management.”

The Grand Winner will receive ₱30,000, while winners from the five categories will each take home ₱10,000. Two special awards will also be given:

  • Banyo Para Sa Lahat – recognizing restrooms with inclusivity features, such as accessibility for PWDs and gender inclusivity.
  • Banyo ng Bayan – the People’s Choice Award, determined through social media votes.

In 2024, the Oro Inodoro Awards honored Muntinlupa City Hall, Calle Café, and Palacio de Memoria for excellence in public sanitation. Ayala Malls Cloverleaf took home the Banyo Para Sa Lahat award for inclusive facilities, while the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) earned the Banyo ng Bayan distinction through popular vote.
