Fortinet Partners with Holy Angel University to Boost Cybersecurity Talent in PH

The partnership aims to help close the cybersecurity skills gap in the country and shape the next generation of cybersecurity professionals

Fortinet®, a global leader in cybersecurity driving the convergence of networking and security, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Holy Angel University (HAU) in Angeles City, Pampanga, under the Fortinet Academic Partner Program. This landmark collaboration aims to equip students with globally recognized cybersecurity skills and certifications, while addressing the country’s growing demand for cybersecurity professionals.

With the support of MEC Networks Corporation (Fortinet’s distributor) and Simplivia (Fortinet’s partner), HAU will integrate Fortinet’s Network Security Expert (NSE) Certification Program into its curriculum. The program will also be available as a standalone continuing education course, ensuring that even non-enrolled learners have access to world-class cybersecurity training. Covering key domains such as network security, web security, malware analysis, and defense, the program provides students with essential expertise to succeed in the fast-evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Cyber Innovation Lab and Industry Engagement

The partnership will also establish a Cyber Innovation Lab within HAU, equipped with Fortinet’s advanced cybersecurity technologies. This facility will serve as a hands-on training hub where students can simulate and resolve real-world cyber challenges. In addition, learners will gain direct insights from Fortinet-certified instructors and guest lectures by Fortinet experts, featuring interactive case studies, practical labs, and experiential exercises.

Addressing the National Cybersecurity Skills Gap

The initiative comes at a critical time. According to the Fortinet Cybersecurity Skills Gap 2024 Global Research Survey, 94% of organizations in the Philippines experienced at least one security breach in 2023. Alarmingly, 77% attributed these incidents to a lack of cybersecurity skills and trained IT staff, while 84% reported difficulty in finding candidates with technology-focused certifications. By making cybersecurity education more accessible and skills-based, Fortinet and HAU are helping close this gap and preparing a new generation of experts to protect the nation’s digital infrastructure.

Expanding the Academic Partner Program Across the Philippines

Holy Angel University joins a growing roster of educational institutions nationwide under the Fortinet Academic Partner Program, including Our Lady of Fatima University, Mindanao State University-Sulu, Don Bosco Technical College-Mandaluyong, Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Central Philippines State University, Bulacan Agricultural State College, Manila Central University, Systems Plus College, and Mapúa University. Together, these partnerships aim to create a robust pipeline of cybersecurity talent across the country.
