Southeast Asia’s most beloved voices—Christian Bautista and Raisa—come together in a heartfelt reimagining of “Rainbow,” the timeless hit originally popularized by South Border. Now reborn as a soulful pop-R&B ballad, the duet blends Bautista’s smooth baritone with Raisa’s velvety vocals, offering a lush and emotionally resonant interpretation that speaks to love, longing, and hope.

“‘Rainbow’ is one of those songs that’s always stayed with me,” says Bautista. “It’s a classic not only in the Philippines, but also in Indonesia. Working with Raisa brought a whole new energy to it—it just felt right.”
For Raisa, the connection to “Rainbow” is deeply personal.
“I grew up with this song, and I didn’t even realize at first that it was by a Filipino artist,” she shares. “It’s always carried such a beautiful message—not just about love, but about life. It’s a reminder that there’s always a rainbow after the rain. That’s something we all need.”
Their version of “Rainbow” marks a significant milestone for both artists, signaling a powerful collaboration between two of Southeast Asia’s most celebrated musical figures. The idea was born during a 13-city ASEAN concert tour in Japan, where the pair bonded both as friends and as performers.
“We really hit it off during the tour,” recalls Bautista. “We talked about the songs that shaped us, and ‘Rainbow’ instantly stood out. The melody, the message—it all came together naturally.”
Raisa adds, “Christian is such a big name in Indonesia—I listened to his music growing up. When we finally met and got to know each other, I was amazed not just by his talent but by his kindness. So when the chance to collaborate came up, it was an easy yes.”
Produced by a team of top Filipino and Indonesian talents, the duet stays faithful to the essence of the original while weaving in fresh nuances—a new arrangement tailored for a male-female duet, subtle key changes, and harmonies that elevate the song without overwhelming its emotional core.
“With a song like this, you don’t want to change too much,” explains Raisa. “We just wanted to honor the original while giving it a fresh take for a new generation.”
The result is a seamless vocal chemistry—each artist allowing the other space to shine, creating an honest and intimate rendition that transcends borders.
“We discovered how naturally our voices blended,” says Bautista. “It wasn’t about overpowering each other—it was about sharing the story of the song in the most genuine way possible.”
While the artists initially recorded together, busy schedules meant parts of the song had to be finished separately—something that posed a unique challenge for a duet. Still, their dedication and attention to detail paid off.
“Matching phrasing and vibrato from different sessions isn’t easy,” Raisa admits. “But somehow it worked. I think it’s because we both love this song so much.”
“Rainbow” also marks Raisa’s first official entry into the Philippine market—a move she embraces with open arms.
“The Philippines has such an incredible music scene with so many amazing singers,” she says. “I’ve always admired it from afar, and now I’m excited to be part of it.”
Bautista, already a household name in both the Philippines and Indonesia, sees this collaboration as more than just a duet—it’s a bridge between cultures, a celebration of shared stories, and a promise of more to come.
“Fans have been asking for this for years,” he shares. “So it feels like a dream finally realized. We’re incredibly thankful to Sony Music for helping us bring it to life.”
And there’s more on the horizon.
“We’re planning to perform this live together and shoot a music video,” Bautista reveals. “This is just the beginning of something bigger—a musical connection between the Philippines and Indonesia that we hope continues to grow.”
“It’s always more fun collaborating with a friend,” Raisa adds. “Hopefully we’ll get to perform ‘Rainbow’ together soon, whether in Manila or Jakarta. Either way, it will be unforgettable.”
“Rainbow” by Christian Bautista featuring Raisa is now streaming on all major digital platforms via Sony Music Entertainment. Let their duet remind you that after every storm, there’s always a rainbow—waiting to be heard.
