The Department of Tourism (DOT) is calling on Filipinos and global supporters to vote for the Philippines in the prestigious 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA), where the country has once again earned multiple nominations. The DOT made the announcement on Saturday, April 5, as the country aims to defend its titles and solidify its position among Asia’s top travel destinations.

For this year’s awards, the Philippines is vying to retain its titles as Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, and Asia’s Leading Island Destination—recognitions the country proudly earned in 2024.

Several iconic local destinations are also in the running for individual honors:

  • Boracay for Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination
  • Intramuros for Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction
  • Cebu for Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination

Meanwhile, the DOT itself is nominated as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board, a testament to its efforts in promoting the country’s diverse and sustainable tourism experiences.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed her gratitude and excitement over the nominations, which she described as “proof of the Philippines’ commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and world-class tourism.”

“These nominations reflect the hard work and dedication of our tourism stakeholders and the strong support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., whose vision has been crucial in pushing the Philippines toward becoming a top tourism hub in Asia,” Frasco said.

She also urged Filipinos and friends of the Philippines around the world to vote and show their support:
“Winning these awards not only brings honor to our country but also opens up more opportunities for our tourism workers and communities.”

Voting is now open and will run until August 31, 2025. Supporters can cast their votes by registering at: www.worldtravelawards.com/vote

The Philippines has consistently made its mark at the WTAs. It has dominated the Asia’s Leading Dive Destination category for six straight years (2019–2024) and won the titles of Asia’s Leading Beach and Island Destinations in 2024. That same year, Boracay, Intramuros, and Cebu each clinched their respective category wins during the country’s successful hosting of the WTA Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony.

Recognized as the gold standard in the global tourism and travel industry, the World Travel Awards honors excellence across all key sectors, from destinations and hospitality to airlines and tour operators. Winners are selected through a public voting system, with input from industry professionals and travelers worldwide.

Frasco concluded, “We invite everyone to continue supporting the Philippines and help us shine even brighter on the global tourism map.”
