SNAP Convenes Forum to Explore ESG Opportunities and Optimal Business Practices

Committed to fostering a sustainable future for the nation, the conscientious energy provider SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP) recently hosted an enlightening event titled “The ABCs of ESG” on July 18. This event marked a significant installment in its ongoing ‘SNAP Conversations’ series, a quarterly platform dedicated to facilitating insightful discussions spanning key subjects within the power sector and beyond.

With a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, as well as the latest updates on global standards and the integration of ESG into corporate strategies, the virtual talk delivered invaluable insights. The event featured Jonas Dumdum, an esteemed Consultant for Industry Solutions Consulting (ISC) Sector and Lead of Nomura Research Institute (NRI) Manila Sustainability Service.

Dumdum, underlining the perpetual nature of sustainability and ESG commitments, offered pertinent updates on matters related to ESG and sustainability. He shed light on the ongoing endeavors to champion the adoption of new global ESG standards at the local level. Moreover, Dumdum underscored the critical importance of incorporating ESG principles into corporate strategies and risk management. He emphasized, “Companies in the Philippines are still in the process of fully embracing this approach. Leading companies in the country have already integrated ESG-related risks and opportunities into their Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) systems, Business Continuity Plans, and other relevant frameworks.”

Dumdum astutely pointed out that fostering a culture of sustainability can significantly enhance a company’s core values, thereby paving the way for more effective sustainability frameworks, robust external engagements, heightened operational efficiency, and superior performance in terms of ESG investments. He emphasized, “The mindset of individuals with regard to sustainability can profoundly influence a company’s overarching efforts to cultivate long-term sustainability.”

Acknowledging the pivotal role that businesses play in the nation’s journey towards sustainability, SNAP’s Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Atty. Mike Hosillos, underscored the profound significance of renewable energy.
