Rea Gen Emerges Victorious in the Seventh Season of ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’

Rea Gen Villareal, an event singer from Caloocan, fulfilled her dream by clinching the prestigious title of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” Season 7 grand champion in “Tawag ng Tanghalan: Ang Huling Tapatan,” marking her triumph after four previous attempts in past seasons.

“Until now, I can’t believe it because I didn’t expect to win, given the number of times I’ve lost. On my fourth return, I finally won as the grand champion,” shared Rea, who received standing ovations from most jurors during the thrilling grand finals held on Saturday.

Expressing gratitude to her family and friends for their unwavering support, Rea, a 26-year-old mother, impressed the jurors from the first round, collaborating with The Company and delivering a medley of their songs. She dominated the first round and continued her strong performance in the final round, singing Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and achieving the highest combined average score of 97.4%.

The panel of jurors for the Huling Tapatan included Gary Valenciano, Louie Ocampo, Ogie Alcasid, Marco Sison, Nonoy Zuniga, Erik Santos, Jolina Magdangal, Jed Madela, Dingdong Avanzado, Darren, Kean Cipriano, Jona, Klarisse de Guzman, and Mark Bautista.

Rea triumphed over other grand finalists, Eunice Encarnada (92.9%) and Hurado’s choice Vensor Domasig (88.6%), winning P1 million, a recording contract with ABS-CBN Music, a management contract with Star Magic’s Polaris, and a trophy designed by Toym Imao. Eunice received ₱300,000, and Vensor won P100,000.

Aboodi Yandog and Jhon Padua were eliminated as their combined scores in the medley round did not make the cut.

The grand finals of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” garnered significant attention, with the official hashtag #ShowtimeTNT7AngHulingTapatan trending nationwide and reaching 313,099 peak concurrent views.
