Last April 17, I was tasked to help promote Papagoat – Ferdie Abadilla Munsayac’s UGBMMA’s CEO’s upcoming tournament as a blogger under Wazzup.PH. During our first meeting, I took a video interview with him at the bus station.
We had a press-conference with a signing of contract at Puerto Galera as well with Mayor Rocky Ilagan and other media partners and members of the UGB MMA league.

As I talked to Papagoat and learned more about his story, I found out that as a retired Navy leader from the US, he set out to have an advocacy to help the poor reach their dreams and make a living thru starting a gym to train them for free to be the next MMA superstars. At first, a lot may have said that he will not be able to do it, but as time has proven his naysayers wrong due to his hard work and persistence, he was able to train several fighters who are now making a mark in the MMA league.
One of them is Jeremy Miado who fought at the One championship – Kings of Destiny tournament as the first undercard matchup. Though he eventually lost thru a split decision, he gave a good fight and entering the tournament itself was an accomplishment in itself.

These are the details about the upcoming event.
Puerto Galera, Philippines: The Municipality of Puerto Galera headed by Mayor Rockey D. Ilagan in cooperation with the Underground Battle MMA led by Founder/CEO Ferdie Munsayac is proud to present “Rambulan sa Galera – UGB 20”. It is a Mixed Martial Arts Tournament under the WSOF – World Series of Fighting brand and will be a unique and special event in the realm of MMA. The event will be held on the 28th to 29th of April 2017 at 6:00 pm in White Beach, Puerto Galera. The first night’s program includes the fighter’s weigh-in, and Search for Puerto Galera Round Girl to be participated by local contestants.
The program will conclude with a beach party. The second night will be the fight night featuring 14 pro-amateur bouts including fighters Dale Cataquis and Marco Heft both representing Puerto Galera. The said tournament will also include a Juego Todo bout.
The “Rambulan sa Galera” will be making history as this will be the first ever MMA competition in the island. This exciting event primarily arms to promote sports, increase awareness and educate people especially the youth on MMA discipline, it’s positive effects to their physical and mental health, and on their well being as well. This tournament also arms to promote Puerto Galera as an exciting world-class tourist destination.
Tickets are available for Php 150 for the General Admission with one night access, and the VIP tickets at Php 1,500 gives the audience 2 nights access to the event, and seated close to the cage. Proceeds of this competition will go to the Sports and Youth Development Program of the Municipality.
This tournament is supposed by the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, Sangguniang Bayan ng Puerto Galera as well as several individuals and companies including Tanduay Sports, Globe Telecom, Dodie’s House of Wine, Cocolips Bar and Disco, The Sanctuary, MELEKON, Buri Resort and Islands Vacatiob Club.
