The Opening of QCinema International Film Festival

The opening of 10th QCinema International Film Festival was held at Gateway Cineplex Cinema 5 ATMOS last night, November 17. It is a most awaited event at Quezon City for the last 2 years because of the pandemic. The Film Festival will last until the end of November featuring different films in different movie theaters.

It features the Cannes Palme d’Or winning film “Triangle of Sadness” by Ruben Östlund as the opening film. A story where a cruise for the super-rich sinks, leaving survivors, including a fashion model celebrity couple, trapped on an island. It is a satirical black comedy tackling capitalism and social class. You will get a box of pretzel and paper bag upon entering the theater because the film can make you feel sick. The movie received a standing ovation from a hundred of people in the theater.

This year’s QCinema continues to bring world cinema to Philippine audiences, showcasing successful films premiered at prestigious international film festivals. Also, showcasing the beautiful and creative films in our country.

Among the notable attendees at the event were QCinema festival director Ed Lejano, Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte, and “Triangle of Sadness” actress Dolly de Leon.

The famous Filipino screenwriter and National Artist for Literature, Mr. Ricky Lee was also present at the opening of QCinema. He was impressed because of the bravery of the filmmakers to produce a very sensitive issue. That’s why he would like to recommend this film to everyone, especially to filmmakers, so they can be inspired in producing more films like the Triangle of Sadness.
