P&G Philippines: Championing LGBTQ+ Equality and Inclusion as Platinum Sponsor for Pride

Over 400 P&G employees and their families and friends participated in the 2023 Pride March and Festival at the Quezon City Memorial Circle

P&G Philippines, a renowned multinational consumer goods company known for brands like Safeguard, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Olay, Ariel, Tide, and Oral-B, showcased its unwavering dedication to equality and inclusion as the Platinum Sponsor of the Pride March 2023. The event took place at Quezon Memorial Circle on June 24th.

This is the second time P&G has sponsored Manila Pride, and this year’s theme, “Lead with Love,” resonated with the company’s core values. P&G’s leaders, employees, families, and friends came together to proudly celebrate its LGBTQ+ employees and allies, marching in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

Jea Bocaling, P&G’s Senior Director for Global People Mobility Services, delivered a powerful solidarity speech during the event.

“P&G’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community is rooted in our mission to foster a workplace and a world where equality and inclusion are attainable for everyone,” stated Bocaling.

P&G Philippines, as the platinum sponsor for Pride, went beyond its sponsorship role by activating its brands through engaging booths and activities at the Pride march. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy face painting by Olay and a mini salon experience by Pantene. Moreover, P&G distributed products and merchandise to further support the Pride attendees.

Amandeep Singh, Chief Financial Officer at P&G Philippines and Executive Sponsor of GABLE (Gay, Ally, Bisexual, and Lesbian Employees), an employee-led affinity group for LGBTQ+ employees and allies, highlighted P&G’s active support for the LGBTQ+ community. Singh stated, “P&G actively supports the LGBTQ+ community through partnerships and programs that advance equity, equality, and inclusion, and Pride March is one way we show our solidarity.”

P&G’s commitment to fostering a culture of respect and growth is evident through initiatives like GABLE. This employee resource group provides safe spaces for LGBTQ+ employees to drive representation, inclusion, learning, and support. GABLE organizes educational events and seminars, empowering employees to create a workplace where everyone can embrace their authentic selves.

To further enhance understanding and inclusion, P&G GABLE organized a sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (SOGIE) training for all employees. This training aims to educate P&G employees on SOGIE and how to respectfully engage with LGBTQ+ individuals. Additionally, it reinforces P&G’s efforts to support and represent the LGBTQ+ community through its brands.

In line with promoting equality and inclusion, P&G’s industry-leading “Share the Care” parental leave policy ensures that all parents, regardless of gender, sexual identity, or orientation, receive a minimum of 8 weeks of fully paid leave. This policy allows parents to bond with and care for their biological or adopted children.

For three decades, P&G has been at the forefront of LGBTQ+ inclusion, being one of the early Fortune 500 companies to incorporate sexual orientation in its diversity statement and actions. P&G Philippines takes pride in championing LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion, striving for authentic representation of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression both within and beyond the organization.
