TV host-actor Butch Francisco and film preservation advocate Leo Katigbak have unveiled their chosen contenders for the Top 10 Filipino Best Actresses of the Modern Era on the inaugural episode of “Best 10 Bets,” FYE Channel’s latest showbiz talk show now available for streaming on YouTube.
The compilation comprises 10 selections from Butch’s preferences and Leo’s personal favorites who have left an indelible mark on both television and cinema since the year 2000. The show takes a retrospective look at the noteworthy talents, films, and shows that have shaped the landscape of local showbiz.
Nadine Lustre secures the top spot on Butch’s list, with the veteran entertainment journalist praising her as someone who possesses “uninhibited confidence in her body, and her features seamlessly blend with the community. She’s like a chameleon. Moreover, she clinched a Urian award and garnered numerous accolades.”
On the other hand, Leo singles out Kathryn Bernardo as his top choice, commending her for raising the bar with her performance in “A Very Good Girl.” The ABS-CBN Film Restoration head notes, “She set herself at a higher standard than everybody else by pushing herself to a new level.”
Butch also imparts his perspective on the compiled list, advising, “For the emerging talents here, my advice as an elder is not to be overly conscious just because you suddenly gained recognition. Whatever you are now, enhance your craft, but physically maintain your authenticity.”
In the upcoming episode scheduled for this Saturday (Jan. 13), Butch and Leo will reveal their respective selections for the Top 10 Love Teams of All Time.
Leo playfully describes the show as a platform for enjoyable discussions about their picks. He emphasizes that their choices are personal and open to healthy discourse, saying, “My list is personal, based on my perspective and the projects I have witnessed.”
