Mylo Speech Buddy App Debuts on World Autism Awareness Day to Enhance Speech Development for Children with Autism

This tech platform, utilizing a video modeling method, aims to complement the efforts of speech therapists and medical professionals in accelerating the speech development of individuals within the Autism spectrum

In honor of World Autism Awareness Day, Mylo Speech Buddy has officially unveiled a groundbreaking Speech Development System tailored to aid individuals with speech delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The app’s primary objective is to assist nonverbal children in progressing from zero words to their first spoken word. Utilizing a video modeling technique and offering clear enunciation guidance for parents, the system facilitates speech development from the comfort of home.

To ensure its effectiveness in supporting ASD and speech delay, the app collaborated closely with speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and medical professionals specializing in the unique needs of individuals within the autism spectrum. The team comprises parents with firsthand experience raising children with ASD, coupled with extensive expertise in content development for preschool and special education.

Vincent Rocha, President and CEO of Mylo Speech Buddy, stressed the app’s pivotal role within the autism community, stating, “Mylo Speech Buddy is a powerful platform empowering parents to actively foster their child’s speech development at home. It supplements the invaluable contributions of speech therapists and medical professionals, contributing to a holistic approach to speech development rather than replacing professional care.”

Rocha shared personal experiences and the app’s commitment to enhancing support for the autism community, saying, “As a parent of a child with autism, I draw inspiration from my son Noah’s challenges when diagnosed at age two. Our mission is to empower individuals with autism to develop verbal skills and cultivate genuine support within the autism community.”

Autism, a global condition affecting approximately 1% or 75 million individuals worldwide, presents significant challenges. In the Philippines, around 1.2 million cases of ASD are reported, with approximately one in 100 children diagnosed with autism. This highlights the scarcity of accessible and affordable occupational and speech therapy services for Filipino parents of children with ASD. Mylo Speech Buddy underscores the importance of early intervention in enhancing learning, communication, social skills, and fostering positive changes in underlying brain development.

On World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, 2024, the platform will launch a series of “Ausome Stories” videos on social media. These videos will feature 10 real-life families with members on the autism spectrum, offering insights into their daily lives, challenges, triumphs, moments of joy, and encounters with stereotypes and societal judgments.

Rocha emphasized the significance of storytelling in promoting understanding and empathy, saying, “Ausome Stories allows us to share the diverse experiences of individuals with autism, celebrating their strengths and achievements.”

Co-founder Enrico Aquino highlighted the importance of supporting autism communities, stating, “The launch of Mylo Speech Buddy represents a significant milestone in raising awareness, understanding, and supporting individuals with autism, particularly as the world observes World Autism Awareness Day.”

By harnessing technology and compassion, Mylo Speech Buddy strives to pave the way for a brighter future, serving as a collaborative partner in therapy and support.
