Manila’s Traffic Gets a Nod from Eric Nam, Pinoys Respond with Humor and Pride

Korean-American singer Eric Nam recently experienced Manila’s notorious traffic, and Filipinos wasted no time finding humor in the situation.

Nam’s tweet, where he humorously praised Manila’s unmatched traffic, quickly went viral, garnering over 2 million views, 6,678 retweets, 11,600 quotes, and 65,700 likes upon this writing.

Filipino netizens took the opportunity to show their Pinoy pride, and humor. They playfully embraced the distinction of having the worst traffic, with one user exclaiming, “That’s our national treasure and pride!”

Another tweet cheekily remarked, “At least we’re number 1 at something. Mabuhay!”

However, amidst the humor, some users expressed sympathy for the singer’s experience, especially considering the challenges of the rainy season. One Twitter user cautioned about the typhoon’s impact, making the traffic even worse during his visit. They wished him safety on the roads and an unforgettable experience unique to the Philippines.

Eric Nam is in Manila for a fan meet event on August 5th at the Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. This marks his second visit to the Philippines in 2023, following his performance during the Asian leg of his “There And Back Again” world tour in November.

Aside from his music career, Eric Nam is a well-known TV personality in Korea and hosts the popular K-pop podcast “Daebak Show,” which earned recognition as one of Apple Podcasts’ Best Listens of 2019. As he continues to make strides in the entertainment industry, fans from around the world eagerly anticipate his new single, “House on a Hill,” and his upcoming tour across North and Latin America this year, followed by shows in Europe, Australia, Korea, Southeast Asia, and India next year.

In the midst of traffic jokes and laughter, Eric Nam’s presence in the Philippines adds excitement to the local K-pop scene, solidifying the country’s status as a hot spot for global artists. His Filipino fans are sure to give him a warm welcome, traffic and all
