LIMA Water Renews DENR Accreditation as Testing Laboratory and Expands Services

LIMA Water has been authorized by the DENR to expand its services to include the testing and analysis of additional effluent parameters such as ammonia, nitrate, and color.

The laboratory unit within LIMA Water, a water business division of Aboitiz InfraCapital, has achieved the successful renewal of its recognition as an environmental testing laboratory by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). This recognition authorizes LIMA Water to conduct comprehensive testing and analysis of water and wastewater to ensure compliance with national quality standards. Committed to maintaining the highest standards in effluent testing and analysis, LIMA Water has obtained approval from the DENR to expand its range of services, now encompassing additional recognized effluent parameters such as ammonia, nitrate, and color.

Effluent, in this context, refers to treated wastewater that is discharged into natural bodies of water. To safeguard the environment and public health from the adverse effects of pollution, government regulations and effluent standards have been established to restrict the permissible levels of pollutants and contaminants that can be discharged into the environment.

Hazele Manalo, General Manager of LIMA Water, expressed, “Having received recognition and approval from the DENR to broaden our service offerings, we are now capable of extending our laboratory services to other companies. This will assist them in ensuring that their effluent meets government standards and promotes environmental conservation. With our expanded capabilities, we aim to make an even more significant contribution to environmental preservation, water resource management, and sustainable practices.”

The renewal of DENR recognition reaffirms LIMA Water’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a robust quality system, technical expertise, advanced equipment and instrumentation, and ensuring the consistent provision of precise and accurate effluent test data.

Anna Lu, Head of Water Business at Aboitiz InfraCapital, emphasized the importance of these milestones, stating, “With the recent renewal of LIMA Water’s DENR recognition and the expansion of our laboratory services, we are steadfastly advancing the cause of environmental protection. These achievements hold exceptional significance as we serve a diverse range of companies within the LIMA Estate. Ensuring that wastewater effluent quality meets regulatory standards is a crucial measure to prevent water contamination.”

LIMA Water serves as the exclusive provider of water and wastewater services for LIMA Estate, a prominent smart and sustainable industrial development located in Calabarzon. The estate hosts more than 150 locators and employs over 65,000 individuals. LIMA Water operates two wastewater treatment facilities with a combined treatment capacity of 26 million liters of wastewater per day and successfully treated over 2 billion liters of wastewater in 2022.
