Grab Introduces GrabCar Services in CDO to Economic Empowerment in the City

The leading superapp officially launches its flagship mobility service in Cagayan De Oro, expanding its portfolio of services in the city which is currently composed of GrabFood and GrabTaxi

Grab Philippines, a key ally in the nation-building initiatives of the government, is reinforcing its dedication to economic empowerment in Cagayan De Oro. The launch of its flagship mobility service, GrabCar, marks a significant step towards providing Kagay-anons with a reliable transportation option while creating avenues for livelihoods and stimulating economic activity in the City of Golden Friendship.

As a trusted mobility service for Filipino commuters, GrabCar prioritizes safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Currently servicing the area from Laguindingan Airport up to the end of Lapasan and Upper Balulang, GrabCar is making its debut in Cagayan De Oro as the second city in Mindanao to welcome this service. This move aligns with Grab’s mission to create sustainable opportunities and foster economic growth across the region.

EJ Dela Vega, Grab Philippines Head of Mobility Marketplace, highlights the superapp model’s ability to deeply understand Kagay-anons’ needs. He states, “Grab continues to be attentive to the needs of the market, and we believe that now is the right time to offer Kagay-anons a mobility solution that not only meets their everyday needs but also positively contributes to the long-term success of CDO.”

The journey of Grab in Cagayan De Oro began in 2015 with the launch of GrabTaxi, aiming to digitalize the taxi ecosystem. Through partnerships with key taxi operators, GrabTaxi facilitated increased bookings, significantly boosting the earnings potential of hundreds of driver-partners. The expansion continued in May 2020 with the introduction of GrabFood, contributing to a thriving ecosystem for local entrepreneurial ventures. Notable success stories include Frkn Burger, a homegrown CDO merchant-partner that experienced a ten-fold increase in average weekly delivery orders since joining Grab.
