Globe fully restores services in 7 typhoon-hit provinces

Globe technicians fix a misaligned antenna on a tower in Panukulan in the Polillo Group of Islands, among areas worst hit by Super Typhoon Karding.

Globe has fully restored services in seven provinces stricken by Super Typhoon Karding less than 24 hours since the weather system left the Philippine area of responsibility, bringing back much needed connectivity in affected areas.

As of Tuesday, Globe has reached 100% restoration in Northern Luzon provinces Bulacan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac and Zambales, and in the Southern Luzon provinces of Rizal and Quezon, particularly the Polillo Group of Islands. This is on top of immediate restoration of service in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, restoration efforts are nearly complete in Nueva Ecija, among the worst-hit provinces. ‘

Globe initiated field operations in storm-hit areas even while the effects of Karding still lingered on Monday, sending out technical teams who were prepositioned in areas on the typhoon’s path before it made landfall.

“Our network personnel have been working round the clock to make sure outages due to Typhoon Karding will be minimal. Through their efforts, we quickly reached full restoration in most of the typhoon-hit provinces,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer of the Globe Group.

On Monday, Globe restored service in the National Capital Region and four islands in the Polillo group, including Burdeos, Patnanungan, Polillo and Jomalig. Teams finished restoring service in Panukulan, also in Polillo, Tuesday.

Karding left the Philippine area of responsibility Monday night after bringing heavy rains and howling winds in parts of Luzon, leaving at least eight dead and causing an estimated P160 million in agricultural damage, particularly in severely hit Nueva Ecija.

To ensure fast and efficient service restoration in anticipation of the monster storm, Globe had preposition field personnel over the weekend in areas forecast to be affected by Karding.
