Gawad Madiskarte 2024: Renewed Emphasis on Sustainability Takes Center Stage

Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH) is thrilled to announce the return of Gawad Madiskarte, powered by PLDT Home, honoring exceptional mompreneurs. This year, MMPH aims to shine a spotlight not only on hardworking and successful moms but also on businesses that prioritize sustainability.

In the face of environmental and economic challenges in the Philippines, Gawad Madiskarte seeks mompreneurs who lead by example, showcasing how sustainable business practices can be both achievable and profitable. By recognizing and supporting these visionary women, Gawad Madiskarte aims to inspire other entrepreneurs and businesses to contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

According to a report by earth.org, plastic pollution and marine pollution are pressing environmental issues in the Philippines in 2024. With the country heavily reliant on single-use plastics, generating a staggering 2.7 million tons of waste annually, coupled with inadequate waste management systems, the situation is dire. The World Bank reports that approximately 20% of this plastic waste finds its way into Philippine waters, posing a significant threat to marine biodiversity.

This year’s main awards include Diskarteng Eco-Friendly, recognizing mompreneurs leading the charge in environmental responsibility and pioneering green solutions; Diskarteng Angat, celebrating exceptional sales growth alongside sustainability efforts; and Diskarteng May Puso, honoring mompreneurs creating positive social change within their communities.

Each major award will have two winners: one from the Start-Up category and another from the Scale-Up category. Start-Up businesses should have been operating for at least six months, while Scale-Up businesses should have a minimum operating period of 13 months, supported by DTI and BIR permits. Additionally, owners must have an online shop on any e-commerce platform or social media account.

Special awards, Diskarteng Digital and Diskarteng Home Biz, will also be presented. Mompreneurs interested in participating can access the Gawad Madiskarte application form by joining the community. Submission of entry forms begins on March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day.

MMPH, an online community dedicated to supporting and empowering Filipino mompreneurs, boasts over 172,000 members and has trained 15,000 mompreneurs. Through partnerships with local and international brands, MMPH provides education and business opportunities. The community has received prestigious awards such as the Silver Award from the Asia Pacific Stevie Awards, the Grand Anvil from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, the Gold Award for Best PR Program in Southeast Asia from the ASEAN PR Network, and the Prosperity Award from the UN Global Compact Network Philippines.
