My Review

This movie is definitely one of the best science fiction movies I have seen for a long time. A great science fiction movie for me is something that takes me into a futuristic world in terms of gadgetry, stunning out of this world scenery from flying vehicles, unusual characters and last but not the least a great sci-fi plot.  The movie Oblivion has all these elements + more!

What I like in the movie:

The Sky Tower located 3,000 feet above the ground where Tom Cruise character resides. Great interiors. It even has a pool!  Don’t miss the “triangle” in the swimming pool scene 🙂

The Bubble Ship flying across scenic and apocalyptic landscapes and of course the dog fight scenes!

And also …. A great soundtrack!

It’s about 2.5 hours long but I did not even feel it. I was so engrossed with the movie (the IMAX definitely added a bit) and I did not feel any slow boring scene. From the stunning visuals, the story line, plot, and to the engaging characters made the movie enjoyable for me.

I would rate the movie 4 out of 5 for it’s stunning visuals, great production design, and gripping storyline. I highly recommend it to sci-fi aficionados and even to the general viewers. The plot makes you think a bit but still easy to follow to enjoy the movie. If you can spare some cash, watch it in IMAX but I’m confident that the movie will look stunning as well even at regular cinemas.

Enjoy!

Yours truly, Ted Claudio at the Oblivion backdrop at the SM Mall of Asia IMAX Theather
