Epson Introduces App to Combat Counterfeit Inks in the Philippines

Epson, the global frontrunner in printing technology, has officially introduced the Epson Genuine Ink PH mobile app, a tool designed to enable customers to authenticate their ink products. This app, available for free download on iOS and Android devices, is a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding customers against counterfeit inks that can harm their printers and jeopardize warranty coverage.

Counterfeit inks have long been a pervasive issue in the printer industry, posing significant risks to both consumers and manufacturers. These substandard inks can result in subpar print quality, printer malfunctions, and the nullification of warranties. The Epson Genuine Ink PH app provides a practical and trustworthy solution for customers, ensuring that they are using genuine Epson inks.

Masako Kusama, President of Epson Philippines, emphasized the company’s dedication to offering customers the highest quality products and services. She stated, “The introduction of the Epson Genuine Ink PH app underlines our commitment to protecting our customers and ensuring that they consistently achieve the best possible print quality.”

Epson has implemented a comprehensive two-step approach for Genuine Ink verification.

Before making a purchase at Epson’s official stores or authorized dealers, Epson strongly recommends that customers examine the hologram sticker affixed to the side of its Genuine Inks packaging. This provides a three-fold method for confirming the product’s authenticity before buying. First, the temperature-sensitive element: rubbing the blue “genuine” section multiple times will cause it to change color in response to friction and heat. Second, the light-sensitive aspect: shining a light directly onto the plain silver areas of the upper and lower hologram stickers will unveil the concealed word “Epson.” Third, the color-shifting label on the ink box changes hues when tilted, serving as an additional confirmation of the product’s authenticity.

Following the purchase, customers can employ the new Epson Genuine Ink PH app as an additional security measure for verification. This app allows users to authenticate their ink products by scanning the QR code or entering the Random Number (RN) found on the upper hologram sticker of the ink packaging. The app will then indicate whether the QR code or RN is validated as genuine. If customers suspect they have purchased counterfeit ink, they can also file a report, offering crucial information to Epson to aid in the fight against the proliferation of counterfeit inks in the market.

Epson strongly encourages customers to buy Genuine Inks exclusively from authorized dealers and official online stores. By doing so, customers can reap the benefits of genuine Epson inks, including top-notch prints, dependable performance, and coverage under Epson’s warranty.

In addition to the app, the company has established a dedicated page on its website named “Speak UP!” where customers can report counterfeit and compatible inks. This feature enables users to submit reports concerning counterfeit products, contributing to Epson’s ongoing efforts to combat the issue. Through the “Speak UP!” page and the Epson Genuine Ink PH app, Epson is steadfast in its commitment to significantly reduce the prevalence of counterfeit inks in the market, safeguarding product quality and reliability for its customers.
