Embracing Pride: Uniting for Equality and Acceptance

Putting the PR in Pride, CASTRO PR Assembles New Leadership

Amidst a tumultuous period for the public relations industry, CASTRO PR triumphs as it enters its twelfth year of operation. The organization has not only weathered the storm but has thrived, showcasing the resilience and expertise of its dedicated team.

In 2020, CASTRO PR welcomed Janice Pomaloy as Operations Director, bringing with her a decade of invaluable experience. Starting her career in the demanding retail sector before transitioning to PR, Janice has experienced remarkable professional development within CASTRO PR. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of crucial functions, including human resources, finance, logistics, and purchasing, ensuring the smooth operation of the company.

In a significant shift for the agency, Janlee Dungca, former PR Director, assumed the role of Managing Director in 2021, succeeding CASTRO PR Founder Martina Castro. With her extensive tenure at the company, Janlee holds the distinction of being the longest-serving employee since joining in its inaugural year.

Janlee attributes her professional success to CASTRO PR’s steadfast dedication to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion among its workforce. Beyond her professional endeavors, Janlee is renowned for her advocacy of LGBTQIAP+ rights and HIV-AIDS awareness. Under her leadership, CASTRO PR proudly aligns itself with the LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the Philippine Financial & Inter-industry Pride. Additionally, the agency serves as the official PR partner for LoveYourself PH, a volunteer-based organization committed to HIV-AIDS advocacy. Guided by her core values of inclusivity, gratitude, kindness, and empathy, Janlee has consistently exemplified exceptional leadership.

This year, Janlee announces the appointment of two new leaders who will collaborate with her in advancing CASTRO PR’s longstanding mission of creating impactful public relations campaigns that leave a lasting impression on the brands they represent.

Jen Dinglasan, Account Directress of CASTRO PR

Formerly serving as CASTRO PR’s PR Director, Jensine Dinglasan has transitioned to the position of Account Director. In her new role, she will spearhead business development and ensure the delivery of top-notch client services as the agency continues to serve esteemed retainer partners in the years ahead. Affectionately referred to as “Jen” by her colleagues, she has been an integral part of CASTRO PR for six years, initially joining as a PR Manager in 2017.

Jen’s tenure at CASTRO PR has been instrumental in cultivating her expertise in the field of public relations. Reflecting on her appointment as Account Director, she expresses immense gratitude for the trust placed in the agency by over half of their clients who engage them as full-time retainers. This trust is paramount to success, and CASTRO PR’s reputation has attracted numerous brands seeking their services through word-of-mouth referrals. For Jen, building strong partnerships, nurturing relationships, and fostering a robust network are key pillars that underpin the agency’s accomplishments.

Jay Rempis, PR Director of CASTRO PR

Stepping into Jen’s shoes in the PR department is Jay Rempis, a seasoned professional with nearly eight years of experience in the media and public relations industry. Jay joins CASTRO PR after serving as Account Director at Fleishman-Hillard Manila, as well as Senior PR Manager at Ad Garlic and Ogilvy & Mather Philippines. As the new PR Director, Jay infuses the CASTRO PR team with a renewed energy.

Excited about leading the agency’s highly anticipated PR activations and campaigns, Jay is equally enthusiastic about being part of an organization that provides a platform for the thriving LGBTQIAP+ community. He expresses deep admiration for CASTRO PR’s commitment to amplifying the voices of this community and creating an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment, especially within the media landscape. Jay feels honored to work alongside a dedicated and passionate team.

As Pride Month draws to a close, it is important to remember that CASTRO PR derives its name from the iconic Castro District in San Francisco, a global symbol of queer activism. True to its roots, CASTRO PR remains at the forefront of championing LGBTQIAP+ representation in the public relations, media, and communications industries in the country, extending its efforts beyond the month of June. With these recent appointments, the CASTRO PR team will continue utilizing the power of PR to advance its advocacies in the years ahead.
