“DEAR MOR” CERTIFIED HIT AMONG PH’S PODCAST LISTENERS

“Dear MOR” has made it to the top 5 most popular podcasts on Spotify Philippines, proving that more and more Filipino listeners tune in to relatable stories on love and life through the ABS-CBN podcast currently available to listen to in 79 countries.

Now hosted solely by Popoy, “Dear MOR: The Podcast” has proven to be a consistent hit among listeners not only in the Philippines but across the world. It is now the top podcast produced by ABS-CBN—securing the third spot in the Most Popular Podcasts chart of Spotify Philippines’ 2021 Wrapped and maintaining a stable spot in the top 10 of Apple Podcasts since its launch last May 2020.

Two of its episodes, “Quarantine” (The Lemuel Story) and “True Love” (The Yvet Story), also landed on Spotify Philippines’ Best Stories Podcasts of 2021 and Podcast Essentials editorial playlist respectively.

While relishing in the drama anthology’s achievements as a podcast, MOR Entertainment Digital Lead Eric Galang recalled being ‘adamant’ about launching the project despite repeated suggestions by the show’s executive producer Macoy Marcos.

“Ang iniisip ko noon, ‘Spotify? Eh pang-sosyal ‘yan, eh. Ang jologs ng drama natin, masang-masa tayo,’” Eric said, dubbing “Dear MOR: The Podcast’s” unprecedented success as a ‘phenomenon.’

He also tipped his hat off to the small team of creatives behind the podcast, whose “blood, sweat, and tears” he credits for the show’s triumph. “Imagine sine-send namin sa kanila, three scripts per week, so sarili nilang gamit sa bahay, sarili nilang diskarte paano sila magre-record, and they do it for the love of the program.”

Meanwhile, numerical feats aside, Eric and Macoy emphasized that the best thing to have emerged from “Dear MOR: The Podcast” is that it has yielded positive feedback from listeners who were craving for the audio experience that they originally loved “Dear MOR” for on radio.

“Sinasabi nila na sa wakas, makakapakinig na kami ng ‘Dear MOR,’ highlighting pakikinig kasi nga ‘Dear MOR’ is available on YouTube pero technically if you’re not a premium subscriber there hindi mo siya mapapakinggan habang may ginagawa kang ibang bagay,” Macoy explained.

“Bumabalik lang siya doon sa fact na ‘Dear MOR’ at its core kasi is an audio experience na shina-share natin sa kanila at naibalik ng podcasting ‘yung experience na ‘yun—na okay I’m listening to the stories again,” he added.
