Commencement of Groundbreaking for HOTEL101-NISEKO

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, a significant Filipino moment unfolded in Hokkaido, Japan. Edgar Injap Sia II, the Founder of Mang Inasal and Chairman of DoubleDragon Corporation, along with Tony Tan Caktiong, the Founder of Jollibee and Co-Chairman of DoubleDragon Corporation, joined hands with Niseko Mayor Kenya Katayama and Kutchan Hokkaido Mayor Kazushi Monji to mark the groundbreaking ceremony for the 1.17-hectare property of Hotel101. This event symbolized the commencement of construction for the Hotel101-Niseko project, which will feature 482 rooms in the picturesque region of Hokkaido, Japan.

Hotel101 holds the distinction of being the first Filipino homegrown hotel chain to venture beyond the borders of the Philippines and establish its presence in other countries.

Iwata Chizaki Inc, one of Japan’s leading construction firms, has taken on the role of the contractor for Hotel101-Niseko. Notably, this is the same company responsible for the construction of the Chitose International Airport in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

Niseko, situated in Hokkaido, Japan, is a world-class premier ski destination that captivates visitors year-round with its captivating landscapes and natural hot springs. Hotel101-Niseko is set to become one of the largest value-driven hotels in the area, featuring 482 signature HappyRooms that offer a harmonious blend of comfort, convenience, and accessibility for all types of travelers.

This forthcoming establishment will grace a sprawling 1.17-hectare property in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. Anticipated to attract local domestic travelers within Japan and tourists from abroad, Hotel101-Niseko’s location will become even more accessible with the extension of the Shinkansen bullet train to Niseko and Sapporo. The region is also being considered as a potential host for the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Renowned globally for its powder snow, Niseko draws visitors to its picturesque landscapes, with the property’s location in Kutchan Town being among the areas that experience heavy snowfall, averaging around 13 meters. The snow quality is among the finest in the world. Thanks to its northern position, Niseko boasts a reputation for consistent delivery of light powder snow and an extended ski season that spans from November to May.

Hokkaido, being Japan’s northernmost island, remains cool during the summer months, with average temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.
