Club Paradise Palawan world’s first-ever green private estate

The resort joins the ranks of Top 100 Sustainable Destinations of 2020 around the globe

Award-winning resort Club Paradise Palawan raises the Philippine flag high as it joins the ranks of the Top 100 Sustainable Destinations of 2020, making it the first-ever green private estate in the world.

The annual global initiative organized by Green Destinations aims to spotlight sustainable tourism stories and good practices of destinations. Nominations were evaluated by the Sustainable Top 100 Team, country experts, and Green Destination Partners, coordinated by Green Destinations. The competition is held under the auspices of the Top 100 Partnership, with special contributions by Green Destinations, QualityCoast, TravelMole, Vision on Sustainable Tourism, Travelife, ITB Berlin, Asian Ecotourism Network, Ecotourism Australia, and GLP Films.

The resort has been a long-standing advocate of sustainability and has made significant strides in imbibing environmental consciousness as a lifestyle. Club Paradise Palawan’s homegrown EcoConserve project (also in effect at sister property Discovery Shores Boracay) covers a variety of sustainable practices reflected in different areas of operation.

The 700-meter pristine beach falls within a Biosphere Reserve of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, a nesting site for Hawksbill and Green Sea turtles where around 200 turtle hatchlings are released back to the ocean usually in the months of November to January. Club Paradise Palawan consistently keeps watch over the reserve, and also safeguards surrounding marine ecosystems and reefs.

The EcoConserve project has also brought on efforts to reduce plastic consumption on the island and add an alternative supply of clean water to surrounding communities. Club Paradise Palawan also promotes sustainable food sourcing, turning to responsible fishing and organic farming at Taranuman Farm for restaurant supplies.

Discovery Hospitality Corporation (DHC), which manages beloved destinations Club Paradise Palawan, Discovery Shores Boracay, Discovery Suites in Ortigas, and Discovery Primea in Makati, shares its expertise and thought- leadership by offering property management and shared services in food & beverage, information technology, marketing, human resources, sales & revenue, strategy, finance, and operational management departments.
